Conversations with Cally Logan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cally Logan.

Hi cally, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
For me, every part of life can be defined as a story, and every facet of life connects piece by piece to a greater story that connects us all. I have had a passion for sharing stories since before I could read or write. I am an author, writer, and speaker as well as a school teacher from Richmond, Virginia. My passion genuinely is to encourage others that their lives hold immense value to this world. I like to find a positive spin on things and to highlight the importance of offering our authentic and genuine selves to the table. Through my three books, I cover these topics and more, as well as on social media outlets such as Instagram and Facebook. My books have been featured on major television outlets such as the “700 Club Interactive” as well as notable written outlets such as “Propel Women” and “Jesus Calling”. Podcasts, radio, and speaking events are also something I engage in actively, and in my free time, I love to pour into college-aged girls.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Smooth sailing never made for a skilled sailor, and the same sentiment can be said for my career. Developing a thick skin for “no’s” to keeping a positive attitude after closed doors has all been part of the struggle along the way, but none of it has been in vain. What I have found is that timing is everything. My first book was one I pitched to several publishers, but had little or no response, so I let it sit on a hard drive for years. In 2020, my mom felt a nudge that I should pitch the book again, and sure enough, at that time, not in 2017 when I had originally created the book, it was the right time for it to be published. My perspective now is that every struggle is an opportunity, not a defeat.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m Cally. I’m a thirty-something quirky author and writer who finds beauty in the mysteries of life, and in the glory all around us in the details, big and small. Storytelling is my passion. I believe each and every one of us holds a unique, valuable, and hand-written story by God, and together we are part of the Grand Story He has written.

My heart and mission are to share journeys, lessons, and encouragement along the way as we each walk the path set before us. I am the author of three books: “Hang in There, Girl!” (2022), “Dear Future Husband” (2023), and “The Wallflower that Bloomed” (2024). These works have had the beautiful opportunity to be featured on major outlets such as the 700 Club Interactive, Jesus Calling Blog, and many more. I am also a Senior Writer for Crosswalk.com and for The Rooted Truth. My most recent book, “The Wallflower that Bloomed” was chosen as the winner of the Henri Judges’ Panel Award and the 2025 Christian Literary Award. Those awards are immensely humbling, and I am ever grateful.

The desire of my heart and life is to encourage others in the love that I have experienced through a relationship with Christ Jesus. I believe that He has a one-of-a-kind story for each and every one of us, and in partnering with Him, we can experience the joy it is to be alive.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I am a total goofball! I love making others laugh or smile, and I try not to take life too seriously all the time. I am also really good at pulling pranks, in fact, my first year teaching, I had an ongoing prank war with the Senior class!
