Exploring Life & Business with Krysta Covington of Project Your Life Matters Inc

Today we’d like to introduce you to Krysta Covington.

Hi Krysta, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
As a teenager, I faced profound trauma that deeply impacted my mental health and sense of self-worth. After experiencing sexual assault at 15, becoming pregnant, and enduring bullying and isolation, I carried unresolved pain, anxiety, and depression into adulthood, often feeling voiceless and unseen.
While healing, I began exploring creative and professional paths that allowed me to express myself and reclaim my voice. I pursued work as an entrepreneur, actress, model, writer, and teacher—experiencing success across multiple industries. From the outside, it looked like I was thriving, but internally I was still learning how to fully embrace who I was beyond survival and achievement.
Project Your Life Matters Inc. was founded from a place of deep understanding — born out of personal struggles with self-worth, depression, and anxiety. This journey came from pain but bloomed into purpose. It sparked a passion to create what I once longed for myself: a safe, judgment-free space where people can find comfort, understanding, and hope.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My story is one of resilience through unimaginable challenges. During my teenage years, I faced experiences that left me feeling lost and alone. At 15, I was sexually assaulted . The shame, and cruelty I endured —in high school being bullied and ridiculed — weighed heavily on me. Even after giving birth to my daughter, the emotional burden from my childhood persisted, leaving me feeling overwhelmed and voiceless. I often internalized my pain, believing I was at fault, and there were moments when I no longer wanted to live.
But in that darkness, I discovered a purpose — to transform my pain into something powerful.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Project Your Life Matters Inc?
Project Your Life Matters Inc. is a purpose-driven nonprofit dedicated to supporting youth and adults who are navigating mental health challenges, trauma, and life adversity. What sets us apart is that our work is rooted in lived experience—we don’t just advocate for healing, we understand it firsthand.
We specialize in creating safe, judgment-free spaces where individuals can receive emotional support, prayer, encouragement, and access to meaningful resources. Our approach is holistic and compassionate, meeting people where they are and reminding them that their struggles do not define their worth. We focus on fostering connection, resilience, and hope, especially for those who feel unseen, voiceless, or overwhelmed.
Project Your Life Matters Inc. is known for its authenticity, empathy, and community-centered outreach. We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all healing; instead, we lead with listening, understanding, and genuine care. Every service we offer is guided by the belief that healing begins when people feel truly seen and supported.
What I am most proud of, brand-wise, is that Project Your Life Matters Inc. is more than an organization—it’s a movement. It’s a reminder that vulnerability is strength, that stories matter, and that no one has to walk through life alone. Our brand stands for compassion, resilience, and love in action.
What we want readers to know most is this: Project Your Life Matters Inc. exists to remind people that their life truly matters. No matter their past, their pain, or their present circumstances, hope and healing are possible. Through our services, outreach, and community support, we are committed to being a lifeline of help and hope for those who need it most.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Luck has played no role in my life or in the growth of Project Your Life Matters Inc. What carried me through was divine intervention and unwavering perseverance. The journey has been marked by extreme highs and lows—seasons of little to no support, limited resources, lack of investment, and moments where I was building and serving almost entirely on my own. But even in those moments, I refused to give up. I was determined to help others, even if I had to do it alone.
That determination is what led me to write my book, LifeLine: Project Your Life Matters – Defeating Depression Among Teens and Young Adults. The book reflects the reality of the struggle, the faith that sustained me, and the truth that healing and hope are possible—even in the darkest places.
I am deeply grateful for the community members, friends, and family who eventually came alongside this mission to help establish a united front for positive change. The journey has been difficult, but it has been worth it, because even one life saved, encouraged, or given hope makes a difference. Suicide is not the answer—I know that deeply. Had I given up, I would have missed watching my daughter grow up, missed extraordinary opportunities, and missed the strength, resilience, and purpose that were forged through hardship.
What I want to share with others is the strength that comes from perseverance and the truth that set me free. Through every obstacle, every moment of hopelessness, and every ounce of shame I carried from my youth, Jesus met me and transformed my life. Without that truth, those wounds could have followed me into adulthood.
I believe luck is often associated with things flowing easily in our favor—but for many people, life doesn’t work that way. Some of us don’t experience ease; we experience struggle. For people like us, it’s not luck we rely on—it’s blessing, faith, and divine intervention. And I would choose divine intervention over luck any day.
