Hi Shanell, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My name is Shanell and I am from Norfolk, Va. Initially my brand was supposed to be a nail polish brand BUT after months of sampling and testing different nail polishes I couldn’t find what I was looking for and a random thought to sell pressons came into my mind and I ran with it!

Through expertly crafted press-on nails, nourishing nail care, personalized coaching, and curated style inspiration, we empower women to embrace beauty on their own terms—quickly, flawlessly, and with the perfect look to match.

Faith and consistency got me to where I am today.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has definitely not been smooth. While I’ve many struggles, my most challenging struggle was believing I can actually bring my vision to life and believing I was talented enough to have a presson nail brand. I didn’t grow up aspiring to be an entrepreneur, let alone doing nails, so after starting I questioned if I could actually do it and if I was talented enough.
Another struggle was not comparing my art to other nail artists’ art. There were, and still is, certain designs that I simply cannot do. I struggled with finding my own lane and want my potential customers wanted. Overtime I learned that I am an abstract nail artist. While I don’t focus solely on abstract art at this time, that’s where my heart is.

Lastly, we have successfully launched our virtual 1:1 presson nail application sessions where I teach women everything they need to know about pressons. These sessions are perfect for beginners and|or women who are interested in presson nails but don’t know where to start.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My advice for those who are just starting out is just do it. Don’t let fear, confusion, or your insecurities stop you, Also, don’t expect those close to you to understand or support your brand. The vision is yours not theirs. And for those who are blessed to have close friends and family to support them, especially in the beginning, thank them – don’t ever miss an opportunity to say thank you.
Before starting I wish I knew about business grants and other programs that help small businesses on their launch. Knowing this would have definitely changed the trajectory of my brand. Research programs and grants for your small business, you’ll be surprised what’s out there.
