Today we’d like to introduce you to Terrence Pasley.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
When I first began Terry’s Taste, I was in college and wanted to make more money on the side. I began selling dinners as a side business, then started to take on catering orders, custom cakes & desserts and more along the years while trying to perfect my craft. It soon became something more than just a side hustle, I was seeing my dreams come to reality. Things have grown so much within the last 10 years. I now have a children’s food safety book that I created earlier this year that supports with my organization “YES CHEF” ( Youth Enrichment Service Cooking Heals Early Futures.) This organization was designed to help children see the benefits of cooking and how it can assist to cope with mental and emotional trauma that children may endure today. To say running a business alone is easy would be an understatement. It takes a lot of work (physically & mentally ) and sometimes you don’t have the help you can to get things done , so I always try to do my upmost at giving my business my all. Things may get hard sometimes but the memorable impressions I leave with the ones I stumble across my journey means so much that helps me to keep going.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I would say some of the obstacles I have had to work with is always changing the flow of business. Seeing what works, seeing what doesn’t and working out the kinks. I always try to make sure I keep things within my business organized , detailed, and within a schedule. Constantly communicating with my clients to ensure things go smoothly & efficiently. There are times I do run into some problems but if you stick to your plans and stay on track of things, it always tends to go smooth.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a freelance chef but I am also an artist myself. I have been doing art and anything art based since I was a little boy. It has always been a passion and an enjoyment for me to do. I recently learned how to do digital art but I have always been interested in drawing & painting. It truly brings peace of mind and tranquility to me in times of winding down.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
For running my business for as long as I have , I really am not too focused on getting a restaurant as of now but I would rather have a food truck instead. The mobility of things and being able to go to multiple events seems better to me than sticking at one location as of now but it could change for me in the future.
