Community Highlights: Meet Ebony Wilkins of Aalis Management Consulting, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ebony Wilkins.

Hi Ebony , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Hailing from Lima, Ohio, my journey really started with a desire to build something bigger than myself. I spent 10 years serving active duty in the U.S. Army, including a wartime deployment to Iraq, which shaped my discipline, resilience, and ability to lead under pressure.

After transitioning out of the military, I earned both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from UMGC while gaining experience in the federal contracting space. During my tenure I saw a gap—organizations needed partners who could deliver not just compliance, but real impact. That’s what pushed me to start Aalis Management Consulting in 2017.

What began as a vision to provide high-quality, mission-focused support has grown into a firm trusted by federal agencies to deliver U.S. Trade support, Digital Transformation, Financial Management, and Acquisition Support. Along the way, I’ve balanced entrepreneurship with being a wife and a mother of two boys, which has grounded me and continues to fuel my drive.

Today, my focus is on scaling Aalis, expanding into new markets, and building something that creates opportunity not just for my family, but for others coming behind me.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road—and I don’t think it’s supposed to be.

Every few years, Aalis has faced major setbacks that tested both the business and me personally. In 2020, I had just had a newborn when COVID hit, and within a three-month span, we lost all of our contracts. Our revenue dropped to zero almost overnight. It was one of the most difficult periods I’ve experienced, balancing uncertainty at home while trying to figure out how to rebuild the business from the ground up.

But that moment forced me to become sharper, more disciplined, and more strategic. Within a year and a half, we rebuilt to $1.5M in revenue.

More recently, in 2025, we experienced another major challenge with the loss of six contracts due to shifting priorities from the administration. That was another reminder that in government contracting, external factors can change quickly—but your foundation has to remain strong.

What I’ve learned is that resilience isn’t just about pushing through—it’s about adapting, making better decisions, and building a company that can withstand change. Those moments didn’t break us; they made us more intentional about how we grow and how we sustain that growth.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Aalis Management Consulting, LLC?
Aalis Management Consulting is a federal consulting firm focused on helping government agencies operate more efficiently, make better decisions, and deliver on their missions with precision. We specialize in U.S. Trade, financial management, acquisition support, and digital transformation—areas that sit at the core of how agencies function day to day.

What sets us apart is our ability to combine deep technical expertise with real-world execution. We don’t just advise—we step in, stabilize operations, and deliver results in high-pressure environments. That approach comes from my military background and carries through our entire team.

We’re also known for being responsive and reliable, especially during critical periods like year-end spending or organizational transitions. When agencies need a partner they can trust to get it done right the first time, that’s where we thrive.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud that Aalis represents resilience, discipline, and growth. We’ve faced real challenges, but we’ve continued to evolve, expand our capabilities, and build strong relationships across the federal space. Our “Power Up” mindset reflects that—we’re always looking for ways to elevate our people, our clients, and our impact.

What I want readers to know is this: we’re not just another contractor. We’re a partner that understands the mission, respects the responsibility that comes with taxpayer dollars, and is committed to delivering meaningful, measurable outcomes.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
If there’s one thing I’d leave with readers, it’s this—growth doesn’t come from perfect timing or ideal conditions. It comes from consistency, discipline, and the willingness to keep going when things don’t go as planned.

My journey—from military service to entrepreneurship—has been built on showing up, doing the work, and staying prepared for the next opportunity, even when it wasn’t immediately visible.

I’m also deeply committed to creating opportunities for others, especially women veterans and individuals who are looking for a path forward after facing their own challenges. Building Aalis has never just been about business growth—it’s about impact, access, and leaving something meaningful behind.

At the end of the day, I want people to understand that success isn’t a straight line. But if you stay ready, stay focused, and stay grounded in your purpose, you’ll be ready when your moment comes.
