Exploring Life & Business with Jes Garner of Jes Frank Events DBA Bride and Joy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jes Garner.

Jes, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I got started in events in 2010 working for catering and coordination companies and then did my very first wedding in 2012. My company Jes Frank Events incorporated in 2016, acquired our rental company Bride and Joy in 2018 and we now run our events serving our clients on multiple fronts including coordination, bartending, design, rentals + decor, florals, and calligraphy!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Running your own business is rarely a smooth road. There are challenges, setbacks, and countless lessons along the way. It’s hard work and so much pressure. Looking back, I wouldn’t be where I am today without the stress and hardships. Every obstacle has taught me something valuable and helped shape the business I have today.

Success is a long game. Each day brings new opportunities to learn, adapt, and grow. One of the most important things I always keep in mind is to never become stagnant or assume I know everything. Even after years in the industry, I’m still discovering new ideas, trends, techniques, and ways to better serve our clients.

Growth comes from staying curious, remaining open to change, and committing to continuous improvement. The moment we stop learning is the moment we stop moving forward.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Jes Frank Events DBA Bride and Joy?
We specialize in creating thoughtful, personalized events through a unique combination of coordination, décor rentals, event design, florals, signage, lounge furniture, and bar services. Serving Virginia, Maryland, and the DC area, our goal is to make the planning process easier by offering multiple event services under one trusted brand.

Some clients hire us to manage and provide all or multiple aspects of their event, while others bring us in for just one piece of the puzzle. We love both. We’re grateful for every opportunity to be part of a celebration. We also love collaborating with other talented vendors in our industry. Great events happen when creative professionals work together and value a job well done over competition.

What sets us apart is our focus on both the big picture and the small details. While beautiful design is important, we are equally passionate about logistics, organization, and creating a seamless experience for our clients and their guests.

The thing we’re most proud of is the reputation we’ve built for genuine care and exceptional service. We believe every event should reflect the people it celebrates, and we work hard to create experiences that feel personal, meaningful, and memorable.

At the end of the day, we want our clients to feel supported, confident, and able to fully enjoy their event while we handle the details behind the scenes.

What does success mean to you?
For me, success is about much more than revenue or growth. While building a thriving business is important, I define success by the impact we have on the people around us like our team, our clients, and our vendor partners.

Since the beginning, I have strived to create opportunities for others and build a team that feels valued, supported, and empowered to grow. I believe a strong business is built on strong relationships, and I am most proud when our team enjoys coming to work, feels appreciated, and knows their contributions matter.

One of the greatest blessings in this journey has been the people who have come alongside me. A few years ago, my best friend, Melanie, joined the company and has helped expand our offerings in countless ways through her creativity, talent, and unwavering support. Watching the business grow alongside people I genuinely care about has made the experience even more meaningful.

Success also means treating people well, operating with integrity, and leaving every client, employee, and partner better than we found them. It’s been quite a journey, made special by all the incredible people who have been part of it along the way. If we can create meaningful experiences, support those around us, and build a business that positively impacts others, I consider that a success.
