Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Fields.
Hi Tiffany, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I didn’t find my way into accounting through a traditional path. It started much earlier, during a difficult season in my life. When my grandparents passed away, my aunt, who was raising me, suddenly found herself trying to manage the family business and needed help keeping things together. I stepped in where I could, learning the basics on the old big green ledger books long before everything became digital.
Looking back, that experience shaped so much of who I am today. What started as helping family quickly turned into a genuine love for accounting. I realized I enjoyed the challenge behind the numbers and the way every transaction told a story. To me, accounting became less about spreadsheets and more about solving puzzles and creating clarity out of chaos.
That eventually led me to school for accounting, and I have worked in the field in one form or another ever since. Over the years, I saw firsthand how many small business owners were trying to navigate important financial decisions without the support they truly needed. Too often, they were left with unanswered questions, confusing reports, or systems that simply were not built to help them grow.
That is what ultimately pushed me to open my own firm, FAB Accounting. I wanted to create something different; a place where small business owners and nonprofit organizations could have someone reliable in their corner. Someone who would not only keep the books organized, but also help them understand their numbers, answer questions along the way, and genuinely look out for their best interests.
Today, that mission still drives everything I do. I believe strong financial systems create strong organizations, and I love helping clients build clarity and confidence around their finances. Even after all these years, I still enjoy the puzzle in the numbers just as much as I did sitting beside those big green ledger books.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been an entirely smooth road, but every challenge helped shape both me and my business. One of the biggest struggles was learning that being good at accounting and running a business are two very different things. I had to learn marketing, communication, pricing, boundaries, and how to build systems that truly supported both my clients and myself.
There were also moments of self-doubt that come with building something under your own name. I wanted to create a firm that felt supportive and relationship-driven, not just transactional, and that took time to build.
Along the way, I learned the importance of strong systems, clear communication, and working with clients who value our services. Those experiences are a big part of why I approach my clients the way I do today.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At FAB Accounting, we focus on helping businesses and nonprofits create clarity around their finances so they can grow with confidence. While many people think accounting is just data entry or reconciling transactions, we take a much deeper approach by helping clients understand the story their numbers are telling.
We specialize in working with nonprofits and project-based businesses that want more than basic bookkeeping. Our services include financial reporting, cash flow management, budgeting, forecasting, job costing, fund accounting, and ongoing financial support designed to help business owners make informed decisions.
What sets us apart is the relationship we build with our clients. I created this firm because I saw how many small business owners felt overwhelmed, unsupported, or left in the dark about their finances. We prioritize communication, education, and making sure our clients always have someone in their corner to answer questions and help guide them forward.
Brand wise, I am most proud that FAB has been built on trust, authenticity, and genuinely caring about the people we serve. We are not trying to be the biggest firm around; but we do want to be the firm clients know they can rely on.
How do you think about happiness?
Coffee… lots of coffee. That is probably the first answer.
But honestly, helping others has always been something that brings me joy. I love being able to take something that feels overwhelming to a business owner and turn it into clarity and confidence for them. Knowing I can help relieve some of that stress and support someone as they grow their business is incredibly rewarding to me.
Outside of work, my family is a huge part of what makes me happy, along with my farm animals. Life can get busy, so those quieter moments at home help keep me grounded and remind me what all the hard work is for.
