Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin Warren.
Hi Erin, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Really, for most of my life, my perception of accessibility to affordable fashion, especially for those in larger bodies, was basically non-existent; as an incredibly active teenager through high school, I always found clothes that either fit or went home with me, regardless of where I shopped.
Throughout my undergraduate degree, courses titled Human Trafficking and Smuggling and Sustainable Fashion truly broadened my perspective on the exploitative nature of modern-day slavery within the global fashion market, sparking a passion for advocacy and education of ethical fashion; Presently pursuing a master’s degree in Conflict Analysis and Resolution for my future, consisting of facilitating collaborative dialogue and mediation to address the complex human rights crisis in the fashion industry.
In my academic journey and after an immense amount of abuse, my body has consistently changed due to non-linear recovery, and for the first time in my life, I would have breakdowns at the mall due to the active struggle of attempting to find clothes in my size in person, yet the options were more than limited. Accessibility became the ultimate issue, then realizing the oppression people in larger bodies face not only daily, but when trying to find cute, trendy, and affordable clothes in YOUR size.
I started to thrift out of monetary necessity, something that was at first to save money and shop sustainably, which evolved into finding out I have a gift for discovering stylish, high-quality pieces that were consistently above an XL, and my wardrobe became filled to the brim. Eventually turned into decluttering my closet, selling on Depop, getting loads of sales, advertising my style on TikTok, gaining over 9K followers, and having a genius idea to start selling second-hand style bundles for those in larger bodies; thus, FairFatFashion was born; Fair for sustainability, Fat for any body, and Fashion for every body. After the style bundles took off, curating became my full-time job for a couple of months, received only 5-star reviews, and I felt like I was dreaming! For a period of time, I was fully dedicated to making trendy, sustainable fashion accessible to all, an idea that personal style creates autonomy and sovereignty.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
To be quite frank, no. In addition to navigating recovery from several mental illnesses and disabilities, traditional full-time employment has been almost impossible to navigate and maintain because, systemically, many workplaces are not equipped to allow equitable access to individuals with disabilities to meaningful employment due to bias, retaliation, and discrimination. Actually, I have been wrongfully terminated from three separate social services positions, one being a national abuse hotline, refusing to accommodate my reasonable accommodations, despite the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
Quite literally, on May 29th of 2026, I was terminated during my fourth day in a new job, in a new city; I am alleging discrimination due to requesting accommodations and showing symptoms of my disability, and then being terminated without any discussion about undue hardship, my performance, or any issues at hand. This termination has me now behind on pretty much every bill, and emptying my closet to sell on Depop to put food on the table, which is now not a new routine in my life anymore, and I am emotionally gone at this point.
My personal experience reinforces how vulnerable populations, especially individuals with disabilities, who are more than able, are continuously in poverty due to employers who are not educated to accommodate any disability, period.
So, FairFatFashion really started as a project I was passionate about, but honestly, over time, the need to seriously invest in my small business became a necessity for income and stability. Yet, keeping me just below water right now, because self-employment is exhausting due to my symptoms and the business not generating enough income to fully support my daily life, I truly question whether I should keep pursuing this fashion dream or literally attempt to find meaningful employment again, with the hopes they do not fire me and the cycle continues.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about FairFatFashion?
FairFatFashion is a size-inclusive secondhand styling and resale business with a core belief that fashion is for everybody and any body; period. I create individualized style bundles and sell curated second-hand pieces mostly for people who wear a size XL or above.
My ultimate goal is to help anyone find sustainable, trendy clothing without changing anything about themselves. What started out as my own struggle to find stylish, affordable clothes that fit my ever-changing body and my academic interest in ethical fashion became a dedication to making fashion more accessible for every body.
I want people to feel celebrated through fashion by helping achieve a sustainable future.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I stand that there is clear privilege in fashion reserved for those in societal body types; everyone, regardless of their body or ability, deserves access to clothing that makes them feel confident, like themselves naturally.
I also stand by that affordable sustainability and true size inclusivity, not just up to a 3XL, should coexist.
Because no matter what thrift store I enter, I always find at least one stunning piece, XL and over, so there is more access than some might realize or even have time for. I yearn to educate those in larger bodies that you do not need to change anything to achieve a desired personal style; you might just need some help!
My hope is that FairFatFashion empowers anyone to feel seen in their own bodies within an industry that perpetually overlooks a lack of access for larger bodies, simultaneously featuring fatphobic media.
By supporting a small styling business that prioritizes justice in fashion, everybody, I can help ensure its (hopefully) bright future. FairFatFashions’ core mission is to provide accessible fashion for any body.
FairFatFashion did not start from a passion for style; it started from losing access to them, always supporting anyone to find their style, and celebrate them as they are.
