Hi Nikita, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Umedia was founded in 2019 with a simple belief: every property deserves to look its best, regardless of size or budget. What started as a two-person operation with a camera and a passion for real estate has grown into a trusted team of nine professionals serving the entire DC, Maryland, and Virginia region.
Over 4,000 photoshoots later, our mission hasn’t changed. We combine speed, expertise, and professional-grade equipment to deliver media that helps listings sell faster — with next-day delivery and pricing that works for every agent.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Growing Umedia came with many challenges, including building a reliable team, creating efficient systems, maintaining quality standards, and managing rapid growth. Like most businesses, there were setbacks and learning experiences along the way, but each challenge helped us improve and better serve our clients.

Umedia is a real estate media company serving the Washington, DC metro area. We specialize in high-quality real estate photography, cinematic video production, drone media, floor plans, Matterport tours, virtual staging, and a full range of marketing assets designed to help properties stand out in a competitive market.

How do you think about luck?
Luck has certainly played a role in my journey, both good and bad. I’ve been fortunate to meet great clients, mentors, team members, and business partners who helped create opportunities that I could not have achieved alone. Being in the right place at the right time has opened doors throughout my career.
At the same time, I’ve learned that luck only creates opportunities—it doesn’t guarantee results. Building a business requires consistent effort, adaptability, and the willingness to keep moving forward when things don’t go as planned. There have been setbacks, difficult decisions, and unexpected challenges along the way, but many of those experiences ultimately helped me grow as an entrepreneur and improve the company.
Looking back, I believe success comes from a combination of preparation and opportunity. When opportunities appear, you have to be ready to take advantage of them. The harder I’ve worked and the more I’ve invested in improving myself and the business, the more “lucky” I seem to have become.
