Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Kenya Williams, and I am the founder and CEO of iShine. My journey began with a simple passion for cars and a desire to create something of my own. Like many entrepreneurs, I started with limited resources, working long hours and building the business one customer at a time. What began as a small detailing operation grew through hard work, consistency, and a commitment to treating every vehicle as if it were my own.
Over the years, I focused on delivering exceptional customer service and continuously expanding our expertise beyond detailing into window tint, ceramic coatings, paint protection film, vinyl wraps, and commercial flat glass solutions. As our reputation grew throughout Williamsburg and the surrounding region, so did our opportunities.
The road hasn’t always been easy. There were challenges, sacrifices, and moments when I had to bet on myself and trust the vision. Those experiences taught me resilience, leadership, and the importance of surrounding yourself with great people. Along the way, I’ve been fortunate to receive recognition from the community, grow meaningful partnerships, and help create opportunities for others through employment and mentorship.
One of the accomplishments I’m most proud of is celebrating 10 years in business while continuing to grow and innovate. Beyond the business itself, I’m passionate about giving back to the community, supporting youth programs, and creating events like the Shine Showdown that bring people together through a shared love of automotive culture.
My story is ultimately about perseverance. I started with a dream, worked relentlessly to build it, and continue to push forward every day. What drives me now is not only building a successful company, but creating a legacy that inspires others to believe that with hard work, faith, and determination, anything is possible.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No. There has been many challenges, being an 6’4 African American man, operating a detailing business in a predominately Caucasian community. going through covid, having employees come and go and try to derail you along the way. Being passed on opportunities because of the color of my skin and many other reasons. It wasn’t because I couldn’t do the work but its other factors. Not easy at all.

Founded in Williamsburg, Virginia, iShine has grown from a small detailing business into a premier automotive appearance and protection company serving vehicle enthusiasts, luxury vehicle owners, dealerships, and commercial clients throughout the region.
We specialize in premium automotive services including paint protection film (PPF), ceramic coatings, window tinting, vinyl wraps, paint correction, and professional auto detailing. We also provide residential and commercial window film solutions, helping homeowners and businesses improve comfort, energy efficiency, privacy, and security.
What sets us apart is our commitment to quality, education, and customer experience. We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all solutions. Every vehicle and customer has different needs, and we take the time to educate our clients so they can make informed decisions about protecting their investment. As we celebrate 10 years in business, we’re excited about the future. From launching our own Shine Pack product line to hosting the Shine Showdown indoor car show, we’re continuing to build a brand that goes beyond automotive services. We want people to know that iShine is about more than making vehicles look good—it’s about protecting investments, creating memorable experiences, supporting our community, and delivering a level of service that customers can trust for years to come.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
My family and employees make me happy. I lost alot growing up, Mother and Dad is deceased. I have a wife and three kids. So to see them grow and mature is what makes me happy. My employees who I love and i get to see them put food on there tables and for there kids to grow. Its all apart of us being a big happy family.
