Today we’d like to introduce you to Matthew Wilson.
Hi Matthew, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
After graduating from Shenandoah University with a business degree focused in marketing, I found myself trying to answer a pretty simple question: how do I combine my passion for creating, my passion for helping people, and the degree I just spent four years earning?
That question eventually turned into Hustle Productions.
When I first started, it was really focused on videography and photography. I loved creating, telling stories, and helping businesses showcase what they do. But the more businesses we worked with, the more I realized that most of them didn’t have a content problem, they had a marketing problem.
They knew they needed to be posting, running ads, creating videos, building a brand, and staying visible, but they didn’t have the time, systems, or team to make it all happen consistently.
Over the years, that’s really shaped what Hustle Productions has become. We still love creating great content, but we’ve grown into helping businesses with the bigger picture. We see the impactful pieces that most businesses struggle with; marketing strategy, content, podcasts, advertising, and building a brand that people actually recognize and trust.
The coolest part has been the relationships. We’ve had the opportunity to work with some incredible business owners, hear their stories, and play a small role in helping them grow.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not.
One of the biggest challenges that’s always on my mind is balancing family and business.
Entrepreneurship doesn’t fit neatly into a 9-to-5 schedule. There are early mornings, late nights, weekends, and seasons where the business requires more of you than you’d like. As a business owner, you’re constantly trying to build something while also making sure you’re present for the people who matter most.
For me, that means striving to be a good person, a great husband, and a great father to our two young children while continuing to grow the business.
The truth is, I wouldn’t be where I am today without my wife, Brianne. Her support, encouragement, and willingness to carry so much behind the scenes have allowed me to pursue this dream and build Hustle Productions into what it is today. She’s incredibly strong, and there have been plenty of times when she’s stepped up so I could focus on the business when it needed me most.
The challenge of balancing business and family never really goes away, but having the right partner beside you makes all the difference.
When people look at the success of Hustle Productions, they see my name attached to it, but the reality is that none of it would be possible without Brianne and everything she does for our family.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At its core, what we do is help businesses stop being invisible.
When most people hear “marketing company,” they think social media posts, videos, or ads. We do all of those things, but what we really specialize in is helping businesses build a complete marketing system that works together.
A lot of companies know they need content, advertising, branding, SEO, websites, podcasts, or social media, but they don’t know how all the pieces fit together. That’s where we come in. We step into the role of a marketing department and help create a strategy that supports the business as a whole.
What sets us apart is that we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all marketing. Every business has its own story, personality, and goals. We spend a lot of time understanding who our clients are so the marketing actually sounds and feels like them instead of another template you see online.
I’m also proud that we’ve never lost sight of relationships. Some of our best opportunities have come from genuine connections, referrals, and people trusting us to help tell their story. That’s something I never want to lose as we continue to grow.
What I’m most proud of isn’t a specific project or award. It’s the fact that we’ve been able to build a business that helps other businesses grow while creating meaningful relationships along the way. Seeing a client gain confidence in their brand, generate new opportunities, or reach goals they’ve been working toward is what makes this work so rewarding.
At the end of the day, we’re not just creating content. We’re helping businesses build visibility, trust, and long-term growth.
How do you think about luck?
I’ve always believed in the saying that hard work puts you where good luck can find you.
From the outside, people often see opportunities, relationships, or successes and call it luck. But most of the time, those opportunities only happened because years of work, consistency, and showing up created the environment for them to happen.
That’s not to say luck doesn’t play a role. I’ve been fortunate to meet incredible people, build relationships with amazing clients, and be surrounded by people who have supported me throughout the journey. There have definitely been moments where the right opportunity came along at the right time.
But I also think if you’re not putting yourself out there, building relationships, learning, and doing the work, those opportunities never have a chance to find you.
The same goes for challenges. What some people might call bad luck has often ended up being a lesson that pushed me or the business in a better direction. Some of our biggest growth moments came from projects that didn’t go as planned, mistakes we made, or obstacles we had to work through.
So while I’m grateful for the opportunities that have come my way, I think hard work, consistency, and surrounding yourself with good people create the conditions where luck can have the biggest impact.
