Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Nuñez-Bowman.
Hi Angela, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My husband and I are opening Bowman’s Country Market in July of this year. We are both passionate about supporting local farmers and building community, so opening this market is a perfect way for us to do both. My husband, Joshua, was a manager at various Food Lion locations for many years, and also worked at Airlie. We both worked at the Inn at Little Washington, and I also worked at Salamander Resort. With our combined experience, we aspire to make visiting our market a unique, fun, and memorable experience.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There are always ups and downs with entrepreneurship, but overall things are progressing smoothly.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I (Angela) have taught yoga, including horse yoga, in Virginia for over a decade. I also have my own holistic wellness business. As stated in a previous response, Joshua has worked at Airlie, Food Lion, The Inn at Little Washington, Tri-County Feeds (where we met), and other local businesses.
With our market, we will specialize in locally sourced goods and handmade items. Joshua is from Pennsylvania, and we also plan to carry authentic Amish products from PA in the store eventually.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I like most about Hume is the tight-knit community and strong support of local farms. I really can’t think of anything I dislike.
