Today we’d like to introduce you to Pulse Pilates.
Hi Pulse, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Ashlin’s employer/local studio closed down during COVID. Together with a coworker, Arkeif Robinson, they pooled their resources to establish a 250 sq ft private studio offering private sessions only.
In the Fall of 2021, Ashlin bought out Arkeif’s share when he relocated out of state. This coincided with the arrival of a new client, Sheryl, a nurse practitioner feeling the effects of extended hospital hours. United by their love for Pilates, Ashlin encouraged Sheryl to get Pilates instructor training. Sheryl encouraged Ashlin to consider a larger studio that offered group sessions.
From here Pulse Pilates and Strength started in May 2023, initially offering private sessions and small, five person group reformer classes. For the past three years the studio has grown to 8 person reformer group sessions, private sessions, and the opening of a mat studio in December 2025. We have now expanded from just two of us coaching to a staff over 15 people; plans to expand again this summer to include Xformer group classes!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Surprisingly smooth! The biggest struggle was trying to run the business with just two of us, but we have expanded our coaching staff.

We are a Pilates boutique studio, offering group reformer classes, group mat classes (Pilates, Barre, strength & sculpt), and soon to offer group Xformer classes. We also offer private sessions.
We are proud of the client relationships we’ve built, focusing on people of all ages, ethnicities, and body sizes. We pride ourselves on small groups so we can give individualized attention to our participants!

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Find local business that share the same philosophy and goals, develop a collaborative relationship for information/education sharing, even cross referrals to each other’s businesses!
