Today we’d like to introduce you to Bree Delac.
Hi Bree, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I knew I wanted to be a massage therapist before I even graduated from high school. My parents encouraged me to pursue a traditional four-year degree, but to nobody’s surprise, that path didn’t last long. Instead, I enrolled at the Georgia Medical Institute in Atlanta, Georgia, where I completed my massage therapy training and graduated in 2003.
After graduation, I worked alongside chiropractors throughout the Metro Atlanta area. There, I learned how to address specific conditions in focused, treatment-based sessions, often before patients received chiropractic adjustments. The work was fast-paced, challenging, and incredibly rewarding. Those early years taught me so much about the body, pain patterns, and the importance of individualized care.
In 2012, my family relocated to Northern Virginia. At the time, our children were still young, so I remained home with them while navigating the process of transferring my massage license from Georgia to Virginia. It was not a simple task, but it gave me time to settle into our new community and focus on raising our family.
In 2016, I had the opportunity to become a massage therapy instructor at a small massage school in Tysons Corner. Teaching was a wonderful experience that deepened my understanding of the profession. Sharing knowledge with future therapists challenged me to continually refine my own skills and approach to bodywork.
While teaching, I was also building my own practice by providing in-home massage therapy throughout Northern Virginia. Mobile massage has always been one of my favorite ways to work. I loved meeting clients where they were, both physically and personally. You gain a different perspective when you see how someone moves through their daily life. Sometimes the reason that chronic hip pain keeps returning becomes obvious when you watch a client sit on their couch and tuck a leg underneath them like a pretzel.
Those home visits gave me a deeper understanding of my clients and the habits that contribute to their pain. They also allowed me the flexibility I needed while raising our four children. I could continue doing meaningful work, helping people feel better, while still being present for my family during those important years.
As my client base grew, it became clear that I needed a dedicated treatment space. I was fortunate to find a home at Healthy Living Acupuncture & Wellness, where I rented a room for almost three years. I am eternally grateful for the support, encouragement, and opportunity they provided during that chapter of my career.
In December 2021, I opened my practice in Chantilly, Virginia, just off Walney Road. What began as a solo practice has continued to grow into something I am deeply proud of.
Since then, I have welcomed talented massage therapists to the practice, each bringing their own unique style, advanced training, and expertise. Alyson Madsen and Tasha Torres have been incredible to work with. Working alongside skilled professionals who value collaboration has been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey. When talented people come together with a shared purpose, everyone benefits—especially our clients.
I have the coolest job ever.
.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
When that very first year Covid hit and shut me down for almost 3 month!
When I was allowed to reopen on May 29th 2020 I hit the ground running, my schedule became increasingly busy, and clients were booking further and further in advance. Covid changed the landscape of massage in more than a physical way. It changed how we related to one another. People were so broken. They were angry and in pain from working a 14! Hour day at the dining room table on a laptop. Political climate was so polorized. From the presidential election to George Floyd. People were in pain.schools were crazy kids were learning at home, And I had never been busier. That was such a wild time in all of our lives.
It became clear that I had outgrown a single treatment room and was ready to create something larger—a collaborative space
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
At Bree Delac Therapeutic Massage & Associates, we focus on results—not routines. Our team specializes in orthopedic, neuromuscular, and therapeutic massage designed to relieve pain, improve movement, and support recovery. Rather than providing the same massage to every client, we tailor each session to address the root cause.
We try very hard to bridge the gap between relaxation and therapeutic.
All of us here understand that one of the most important pieces of healing is de-regulating the nervous system.
With longer treatment sessions and a highly skilled team, we deliver care that goes beyond relaxation.
I want your readers to know that we understand pain and we can be a huge ally in your healthcare journey.
Massage therapy is not a luxury these days. It is an absolute necessity to continue managing the lives we live.
In our office we are able to take HSA and FSA payments with insurance. Giving us a glimmer of hope that sometime in the near future more insurance companies will see that this is an actual healing modality.
We are not a spa and although I love a spa and they have their place, that’s not what we do here. Our sessions are goal, oriented and focused.
