Exploring Life & Business with Jaymee El-Amin of Majestic Phoenix

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaymee El-Amin.

Hi Jaymee , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Majestic Phoenix was born from determination, resilience, and a desire to create something beautiful from life’s challenges.

My journey into the nail industry began in 2017 while sitting on my living room floor, five months pregnant with my son. At the time, I had no idea that I possessed any artistic talent. I was simply a woman who loved getting her nails done and loved everything about being feminine and expressing myself through beauty. However, I often left appointments feeling like I never quite received exactly what I envisioned.

Instead of settling, I decided to learn how to do it myself.

What started as curiosity quickly became a passion. I immersed myself in learning the art of nails, studying techniques, designs, and the history behind the industry. As I practiced, I realized nail art became more than a beauty service—it became a form of storytelling. I began incorporating pieces of my own life experiences into my work, creating designs inspired by growth, healing, strength, and transformation.

In 2019, I attended nail school to further develop my skills and build a professional foundation for my future business. Shortly afterward, life brought another challenge: relocating to Virginia. Moving meant leaving behind familiarity and starting over from scratch. I had to rebuild my clientele, establish myself in a new community, and prove myself all over again.

But starting over was something I had already learned how to do.

The name Majestic Phoenix represents exactly who I am. The word “Majestic” reflects my spiritual nature and my belief that there is purpose, beauty, and grace in every stage of life. The “Phoenix” represents my personal journey—rising from my own ashes time and time again, overcoming obstacles, and refusing to let life’s hardships define me.

Every setback became an opportunity to grow stronger.

Today, Majestic Phoenix is more than a nail business. It is the result of years of perseverance, self-education, sacrifice, and faith. I have balanced being a mother, business owner, entrepreneur, wife, and student of my craft while continuing to build something meaningful for myself, my family, and my community.

What began on a living room floor as a pregnant and a mother of one already, teaching herself nails has grown into a thriving business built from the ground up. My story is proof that success doesn’t always start with resources or connections—it starts with a willingness to learn, the courage to begin, and the determination to keep rising no matter what challenges come your way.

Majestic Phoenix isn’t just a business name—it’s my testimony. Every challenge I’ve faced has taught me how to rise again, and every client who sits in my chair becomes part of that journey.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Building Majestic Phoenix has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life, but it certainly did not come without challenges.

One of the biggest obstacles I faced was starting with very limited resources. When I began teaching myself nails in 2017, I wasn’t working from a salon or professional studio. I was a pregnant mother sitting on my living room floor with a dream, a few supplies, and a determination to learn. I didn’t have investors, a large budget, or a roadmap. What I did have was the willingness to start where I was and grow from there.

Another challenge was being completely self-taught in the beginning. Before attending nail school in 2019, I spent countless hours researching techniques, watching educational videos, studying nail health, practicing designs, and learning the history behind the industry. There were many moments of trial and error. Every mistake became a lesson, and every lesson helped me become better at my craft. Learning on my own taught me resilience and gave me a deep appreciation for continuous education.

Relocating to Virginia presented another major hurdle. Moving meant leaving behind any connections, support systems, and clientele I had worked hard to build. Starting over in a new state required me to establish trust within a completely new community. I had to prove myself, market my services, and patiently rebuild my client base from the ground up. There were times when growth felt slow, but consistency, quality service, and genuine relationships helped me create a loyal clientele over time.

Balancing business ownership while raising a family has also required tremendous dedication. As a mother, wife, and entrepreneur, there are many responsibilities competing for my attention each day. Learning how to balance family life, client appointments, continuing education, business operations, and personal growth has been an ongoing journey. There were sacrifices, long hours, and moments when I questioned whether I could do it all. However, my family has always been one of my greatest motivations to keep pushing forward.

Like many small business owners, I’ve also had to navigate economic challenges and the realities of business growth. Rising supply costs, inflation, changing market trends, and the uncertainty that comes with entrepreneurship can be intimidating. Building a business requires more than talent—it requires adaptability, strategic planning, and faith. Every obstacle forced me to think creatively, make difficult decisions, and continue investing in my vision even when the path wasn’t always clear.

Through every challenge, I learned an important lesson: growth often comes from discomfort. The struggles I faced shaped not only the business owner I am today but also the woman behind the brand. Each setback strengthened my determination, and each victory reminded me why I started.

Majestic Phoenix exists today because I refused to give up when things became difficult. Every challenge became another opportunity to rise, and that spirit is reflected in everything my business represents.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
At the heart of my business, I specialize in all things nails. My passion goes far beyond creating beautiful sets—I’m committed to helping my clients achieve healthy, strong, and beautiful natural nails while providing a luxury experience they can feel confident in.

One of my biggest specialties is nail growth and nail health. Many of my clients come to me after experiencing damage, breakage, or simply feeling frustrated with their nails. I take pride in educating my clients about proper nail care and creating personalized plans that help them reach their nail goals. Seeing a client regain confidence in their natural nails is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.

I also love nail art and creative design work. Nail art allows me to combine my artistic side with my clients’ personalities and visions. Every set tells a story, and I enjoy bringing those ideas to life through detailed, custom designs that make each client feel unique.

One thing that sets my business apart is my commitment to using HEMA-free products whenever possible. I believe in prioritizing my clients’ health and safety while still delivering high-quality results. As the beauty industry continues to evolve, I remain committed to learning about safer products and techniques that benefit both my clients and myself as a nail professional.

I also offer Russian manicure and pedicure services, which focus on precision, cleanliness, and detailed cuticle work. These services align with my overall philosophy that healthy nails are the foundation of beautiful nails. I take pride in providing treatments that not only look beautiful but also support long-term nail health.

Beyond the services themselves, I focus heavily on creating a luxury client experience. I want every client who sits in my chair to feel valued, relaxed, and cared for. From the consultation process to the final result, I strive to create an environment where clients can take a break from their daily responsibilities and enjoy time dedicated to themselves.

Education is another major part of my business. I believe that as a nail professional, my learning never stops. I continually invest in education, training, and professional development so I can provide the best services possible. I also enjoy educating my clients because informed clients are empowered clients.

Giving back to my community is equally important to me. As my business continues to grow, I look for opportunities to support local families, encourage young people, and use my platform to make a positive impact. I believe success means more when it can be shared with others.

Looking toward the future, I am incredibly excited about what’s ahead. I have plans to introduce something that is highly needed within Southwest Virginia—something that I believe will create opportunities, support growth within the beauty industry, and serve both professionals and beauty enthusiasts alike. While I’m not quite ready to share all the details yet, I can say that it’s a project I’m deeply passionate about and one that reflects my commitment to helping elevate our local beauty community.

As a one-woman business, every service, every client interaction, every business decision, and every milestone has been built through hard work, dedication, and a genuine love for this industry. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, but I’m even more excited about where Majestic Phoenix is headed next.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success isn’t about money for me—it’s about impact. It’s knowing that I built something meaningful from the ground up, helped people feel confident, and created opportunities for myself and my family. If I can inspire someone to keep going through their own challenges while making a positive difference in my community, I consider that success.
