Conversations with Lia Johnson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lia Johnson.

Hi Lia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Miss Lia hails from the beautiful country of Argentina, where she learned to appreciate nature and care for the environment from a young age. She is the product of a farm school, where she was taught environmental stewardship by her mother and grandmother. With over thirty years of training* in fine arts and early childhood education, Lia has settled in Leesburg, Virginia where she founded, along with her husband George H Johnson IV, and directs Little Tree Huggers Preschool and continues to devote herself to environmentalism and early childhood education. She is passionate about the arts, embracing all cultures, and taking care of our planet.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Little Tree Huggers wishes to expand to kindergarten and elementary education. Families wish for this to happen but the big obstacle has been to find the right place and capital to make it happen.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Caring for our planet, teaching little ones about the importance of our environment, love for nature has been Lia and her family’s mission.
Little Tree Huggers is a remarkable preschool where children can learn and develop through play and exploration.
Our Little Tree Huggers are loving, responsible and resilient children who experience all around them with hands on actions, activities and showing kindness to all creatures.
