Today we’d like to introduce you to Aleksandar Tomic.
Hi Aleksandar, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My story is rooted in a lifelong interest in design, engineering, and solving practical problems. I started by building technical experience in 2D and 3D CAD, mechanical design, product development, prototyping, reverse engineering, and manufacturing support. Over the past 15-plus years, I have had the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, from early-stage product concepts to complex technical designs and manufacturing-ready documentation.
That experience eventually led me to create X-PRO LLC, a company focused on helping clients move from idea to execution. Today, we support inventors, businesses, contractors, and government-related opportunities with CAD design, engineering support, prototyping, reverse engineering, technical documentation, and manufacturing coordination.
What makes my path meaningful is that it has been built project by project, challenge by challenge. I learned by being directly involved in the details — understanding how parts are designed, how they are manufactured, what can go wrong, and how to create practical solutions that work in the real world.
Where I am today is the result of persistence, technical discipline, and a commitment to helping clients bring ideas to life. Through X-PRO, my goal is to continue building a company that combines strong engineering capabilities with a practical, results-driven approach.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not always been a smooth road. Like most business owners, I have had to learn a lot through experience, sometimes the hard way.
One of the biggest challenges was building everything from the ground up — not just learning the technical side of design, engineering, prototyping, and manufacturing, but also learning how to run a company, find the right clients, manage projects, build a team, and create trust in the market.
In engineering and product development, every project comes with its own challenges. Sometimes a client has only an idea and no drawings. Sometimes the design needs to be improved before it can be manufactured. Other times the challenge is budget, timeline, supplier coordination, or making sure the final product is practical and buildable.
There have also been challenges with growth. As X-PRO expanded into more industries, including industrial equipment, aerospace, defense, and government-related work, we had to keep improving our processes, documentation, quality standards, and communication. That pushed me to become better not only as a designer and engineer, but also as a business owner and leader.
But I believe challenges are part of building something meaningful. Every obstacle taught me something. It made the company stronger, improved the way we work, and helped me understand what clients really need. Looking back, the struggles were necessary because they shaped the way I run X-PRO today — with persistence, attention to detail, and a focus on practical solutions.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about X-PRO LLC?
X-PRO LLC is an engineering, CAD design, prototyping, and manufacturing support company. We help clients turn ideas, sketches, existing parts, or early concepts into real, buildable products. Our work includes 2D and 3D CAD design, mechanical design, reverse engineering, technical drawings, product development, prototyping support, and manufacturing coordination.
We work with inventors, businesses, contractors, and government-related projects across industries such as industrial equipment, aerospace, defense, consumer products, custom products, and manufacturing. What makes X-PRO different is that we do not just create designs that look good on screen — we focus on practical engineering that can actually be manufactured, tested, improved, and brought to market.
A lot of clients come to us with an idea but no drawings, no technical files, or no clear path forward. Our job is to help organize that idea, develop the design, create the proper documentation, and guide the project toward prototype or production. We also help companies improve existing products, recreate hard-to-find components, and prepare technical data packages for manufacturing or government opportunities.
What I am most proud of brand-wise is that X-PRO has grown into a company people can rely on when they need a practical engineering partner. We combine technical experience with a hands-on, problem-solving approach. Our goal is always to make the process clear for the client and deliver work that is useful, professional, and ready for the next step.
At the core, X-PRO is about bringing ideas to life. Whether it is a new product, a custom component, a prototype, or a reverse-engineered part, we help move projects from concept to reality.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I believe risk is part of building anything meaningful, but I do not see risk as simply jumping into something without a plan. To me, smart risk-taking means doing the research, understanding the downside, preparing as much as possible, and then being willing to move forward even when everything is not guaranteed.
Starting X-PRO was one of the biggest risks I have taken. It meant taking my years of experience in CAD, engineering, design, prototyping, and manufacturing support and turning that into a business. There is a big difference between being good at the technical work and building a company around it. I had to learn how to find clients, price projects, manage timelines, build trust, work with contractors, and make decisions that affected the future of the company.
Another major risk has been expanding X-PRO into more complex industries, including aerospace, defense, industrial equipment, and government-related opportunities. Those markets require higher standards, stronger documentation, better processes, and a long-term mindset. It is not always easy, but I saw an opportunity to build something bigger than a simple design service. I wanted X-PRO to become a serious engineering partner that could support real-world projects from concept through prototype and manufacturing.
I would say I am a calculated risk-taker. I do not take risks just for excitement. I take risks when I believe the opportunity is worth it, when I understand what needs to be done, and when I am willing to put in the work to make it happen. Some risks have been difficult, but they pushed me to grow as a business owner and helped shape X-PRO into what it is today.
