Hidden Gems: Meet Christina You of Jeune Brows Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina You.

Hi Christina, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’m Christina You, the founder of JeuneBrows Studio and a Master Permanent Makeup (PMU) Artist with over 25 years of experience.

My journey began in South Korea, where I studied art at Hanyang University. After getting married and raising two children, my family immigrated to the United States in 2011 in search of greater opportunities for our children. Like many immigrant families, we started from the ground up. We worked hard, overcame financial and language barriers, and gradually built a new life together.

After moving to Fairfax, Virginia, I began my PMU career by renting a small room inside a local hair salon. I had no advertising, no storefront, and very few clients. Through dedication to my craft, genuine care for my clients, and word-of-mouth referrals, my business steadily grew. Over time, clients from many different backgrounds trusted me with their permanent makeup services, allowing my reputation to spread throughout Northern Virginia.

One of the biggest challenges I faced was the language barrier. My son, Henry, became an invaluable part of my journey by helping communicate with English-speaking clients while attending George Mason University. His support allowed me to focus on delivering exceptional treatments, and eventually he earned his own PMU license and joined the business.

As our business continued to grow, we opened our own commercial studio and officially founded JeuneBrows Studio. Today, we have proudly served more than 8,000 clients and continue to invest in advanced education by traveling to South Korea each year to learn the latest PMU techniques and technologies.

Looking back, my journey has been built on perseverance, continuous learning, family support, and a genuine passion for helping people feel more confident. JeuneBrows Studio is more than a business—it’s the realization of a dream that my family and I built together from the ground up.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. Like many immigrant entrepreneurs, my family and I faced numerous challenges along the way.

When we first arrived in the United States, we had to start over from scratch. My husband and I worked hard to support our family while adapting to a new country, culture, and language. One of the biggest obstacles I faced was the language barrier. Although I had years of experience as a Permanent Makeup Artist in South Korea, communicating professionally with English-speaking clients was difficult. I knew I could deliver exceptional results, but I often struggled to explain procedures, answer questions, and build the same level of confidence that comes naturally when speaking your native language.

Starting my business was another challenge. I rented a small room inside a hair salon with no storefront, no online presence, and very few clients. There were many days when I wondered if my business would survive. Instead of relying on advertising, I focused on providing the highest quality work and treating every client with honesty, care, and respect. Slowly, those clients began referring their friends and family, and my business grew through word of mouth.

Another challenge was balancing my responsibilities as a business owner, wife, and mother. Building a business while raising two children required many sacrifices, but my family became my greatest source of strength. My son Henry played an especially important role by helping bridge the language gap and supporting the business while he was attending college. His encouragement and dedication gave me the confidence to continue growing.

Looking back, every obstacle taught me something valuable. The challenges made me stronger, more resilient, and more determined to succeed. Today, those experiences remind me that success is not built overnight—it is built through perseverance, continuous learning, and the support of the people who believe in you.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
JeuneBrows Studio is a premier Permanent Makeup (PMU) and advanced esthetics studio located in Fairfax, Virginia. Our mission is simple: to help clients enhance their natural beauty while saving time and feeling more confident every day.

With more than 25 years of experience and over 8,000 satisfied clients, we specialize in a wide range of permanent makeup services, including Nano Hairstrokes, Microblading, Ombre Powder Brows, Combination Brows, Lip Blush, Eyeliner Tattoo, Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP), and other advanced cosmetic tattoo procedures. Every treatment is fully customized to complement each client’s unique facial features, skin type, lifestyle, and personal goals.

What truly sets JeuneBrows Studio apart is our commitment to artistry, education, and personalized care. Permanent makeup is more than a cosmetic procedure—it’s an art form that requires technical precision, creativity, and a deep understanding of facial balance. My background in fine arts, combined with decades of hands-on experience, allows me to create natural, elegant, and timeless results rather than following temporary beauty trends.

We also believe that education never stops. Every year, I travel to South Korea—one of the world’s leading countries in the beauty industry—to learn the latest PMU techniques, technologies, and safety standards. This ongoing education allows us to bring innovative methods and modern artistry back to our clients in the United States.

Another aspect that makes our studio unique is our family-oriented approach. My son, Henry, is a licensed PMU artist who also works in the IT industry. Together, we combine artistry, professionalism, technology, and exceptional customer service to create a welcoming experience for every client. Whether someone is visiting us for their very first procedure or returning for maintenance years later, we want them to feel comfortable, informed, and genuinely cared for.

What I’m most proud of isn’t simply the number of clients we’ve served—it’s the trust we’ve earned. Much of our growth has come through word-of-mouth referrals from happy clients who recommend us to their family and friends. That trust is something we value deeply and never take for granted.

At JeuneBrows Studio, our goal is not just to improve appearances but to help people feel more confident in themselves. Whether we’re restoring eyebrows lost to over-plucking, creating natural-looking hair strokes, enhancing lips, or helping clients regain confidence after hair loss with scalp micropigmentation, we strive to deliver beautiful, lasting results that positively impact our clients’ daily lives.

For us, every client is more than an appointment—they become part of the JeuneBrows family. That commitment to quality, integrity, continuous learning, and genuine care is what defines our brand and what we hope every client experiences when they walk through our doors.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is making a meaningful difference in people’s lives through my work while always putting my family and my clients first.

Permanent makeup is about much more than beauty. Many of my clients come to me because they have lost confidence due to hair loss, aging, medical conditions, or years of struggling with their appearance. Seeing someone look in the mirror, smile, and feel confident again is the most rewarding part of what I do. Knowing that my work can save them time each day and help them feel their best gives my career a deeper purpose.

Family has also been the foundation of everything I have accomplished. My husband and two sons have supported me through every challenge, from immigrating to the United States to building JeuneBrows Studio from the ground up. Their encouragement, sacrifice, and belief in me have made this journey possible, and I am especially grateful to my son Henry, who has played an important role in helping grow our business.

I also believe that excellence requires continuous learning. The beauty industry is constantly evolving, so I make it a priority to continue my education every year by learning the latest techniques and technologies. My clients trust me with their faces, and I believe they deserve the highest level of skill, safety, honesty, and care.

Above all, I want JeuneBrows Studio to be known not only for beautiful results but also for integrity, compassion, and genuine relationships. If my clients leave feeling more confident, cared for, and valued than when they arrived, then I know I have fulfilled my purpose.
