Check Out Sol Atkins’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sol Atkins.

Hi Sol, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Sol developed an interest in fixing things when he was 11 years old. When his busy father was taking too long to finish building his treehouse, Sol jumped in. The experience instilled in him a passion for construction and repair, as he saw for the first time that he was capable of building something with his own hands.

When he was 17, he started working for Solshine Energy Alternatives, a local solar installation company. There, he learned the fundamentals of construction, electrical work, and project planning and management.

In 2020, he decided to apply his skillset to building a business. He started with handyman projects, but when there was a clear need for a local chimney sweep, that became a major part of his work. Today, he also specializes in roof painting and resurfacing in the summer, chimney work in the winter, and other construction and repair projects year-round.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
In 2024, Sol dislocated his shoulder. The injury temporarily disrupted his work, and he was worried that the injury would permanently impair his ability to do manual labor. Luckily, he took his physical therapy seriously, and recovered well.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Sol is most proud of his community connections. He is grateful for his clientele, and when applicable, he enjoys working closely with other local businesses to ensure that clients’ needs are met.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Sol loves dogs, motorcycles, and making pizzas in woodfire ovens. Outside of his work, he can be found lifting weights in the gym or fixing up his motorcycle.
