Hi amen (always lowercase) , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is amen Dupri (spelled just like that) – I’m a Virginia Native. – Singer , Songwriter, artist.
I’ve been panting since the second grade.
I’ve been singing for a while.
I’ve been rapping since 2015.
I love God.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There’s always going to be something to overcome. That’s the journey y’know? — like that’s where the growth happens.
So no. It has not been smooth. The only true struggle is overcoming myself and fully trusting God with closing and opening doors.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m an artist.
I create colorful , powerful pieces that catch your eye , hold your attention , or tell a story about what makes me who I am,
I’m proud of my family.
I think what sets me apart is what sets everyone apart. We are all custom made. No one completely identical in every aspect. We are infinitely different just by existing.
But if I’m thinking in terms of how I view myself – I just say I’m just me . lol – I’m just a girl from Virginia frfr lol who loves God, loves good music, loves art, loves creating. And is a true artist. That’s what i would love to be known as – a true artist.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Of course I’ve taken Risk. But what I’ve learned is that on the other side of risk is freedom. Once you realize that God is in complete control of every outcome – you can take a risk. Because no matter the outcome it’s in Gods will. And I believe my life is going to be a testimony of incredible risk with incredible reward. I say take the risk – if you’re not harming anybody – or being a detriment to yourself – take the risk. Either you gon win , or you gon learn.
