Today we’d like to introduce you to CONNOR.
Hi CONNOR, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in the HVAC industry because my father owned his own HVAC company. From a young age, I was exposed to the trade and learned the value of hard work, quality craftsmanship, and taking care of customers. Those early experiences gave me a strong foundation and a passion for the industry.
As I gained experience, I began running service calls on my own and eventually decided to start my own business. In the beginning, I operated out of my home, focusing on providing honest, reliable service and building lasting relationships with my customers. Through dedication, word-of-mouth referrals, and a commitment to doing the job right, the business continued to grow.
In 2025, I reached an exciting milestone by opening our first storefront. Since then, we’ve expanded into a team of 25 employees who share the same commitment to exceptional service and treating every customer like family.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like most small business owners, I’ve faced my share of challenges. In the beginning, I was wearing every hat—technician, dispatcher, customer service representative, estimator, and accountant—all while trying to grow the business. There were long days, late nights, and plenty of sacrifices.
One of the biggest challenges was building a customer base and earning people’s trust. Every job mattered because our reputation was being built one customer at a time. As the company grew, new challenges came with hiring the right people, creating processes, managing cash flow, and maintaining the level of quality and customer service that our customers expect.
The HVAC industry has also experienced supply chain issues, changing regulations, and rising material costs over the years, which required us to adapt quickly. Through it all, I’ve learned that success doesn’t come without obstacles. Every challenge has made me a better business owner and leader, and I’ve always tried to stay focused on doing what’s right for our customers and our team.
Looking back, those struggles were worth it because they helped shape the company we are today. We’ve built a strong team, earned the trust of our community, and continue to grow while staying committed to providing honest, high-quality service.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At C.D. Shanahan’s Heating, Cooling & Plumbing, we provide residential and commercial HVAC and plumbing services, including installation, repair, maintenance, and emergency service. Our goal has always been to deliver high-quality workmanship while treating every customer with honesty, respect, and professionalism.
Over the years, we’ve built a reputation for being reliable, responsive, and customer-focused. We know that when someone’s heating, air conditioning, or plumbing isn’t working, it can be stressful, so we make it a priority to communicate clearly, show up when we say we will, and provide solutions that are in the customer’s best interest—not just the most expensive option.
What I’m most proud of is the team we’ve built. We’ve grown from a one-person operation working out of my home to a company with 25 employees who share the same values and commitment to excellent service. Watching our employees grow in their careers while knowing we’ve earned the trust of so many families and businesses in our community is incredibly rewarding.
What sets us apart is our commitment to doing the right thing, even when no one is watching. We believe in educating our customers, giving honest recommendations, standing behind our work, and treating every home and business as if it were our own. For us, success isn’t just measured by how much we’ve grown—it’s measured by the relationships we’ve built, the trust we’ve earned, and the positive impact we’ve made in the communities we serve.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
growing up i was always ambitious. School isn’t where I thrived I was much more interested in learning through hands on experience than sitting in a classroom
