Hi Christiana, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve loved the beauty industry for as long as I can remember. There’s something powerful about helping someone feel beautiful from the inside out — it’s never just been about the treatments for me, it’s about the transformation that happens in someone’s confidence, their posture, the way they carry themselves after.
Ten years ago, I started Brave Beauty Spa in San Diego, California with that exact vision: a space where people could walk in and feel comfortable, supported, and encouraged — not judged. A place to slow down and be taken care of.
Life had other plans, and our roots eventually moved us across the country to Virginia Beach. But the heart of Brave Beauty never changed. A decade later, we’re still here creating that same safe, welcoming space — because everyone deserves to feel brave and beautiful, inside and out.
This isn’t just my business. It’s my purpose.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One of the hardest moments was closing my doors in San Diego. Leaving behind clients who had become like family, who trusted me with their skin, their confidence, their stories — that wasn’t easy. There were tears in that decision.
But I’ve always believed God writes the path before we even see it. So even though it was hard, it was also peaceful. I had faith that Virginia Beach was where I was being called next — new clients, a new community, a new chapter.
And starting over hasn’t been without its own obstacles. Building a new client base from the ground up. Growing a team so we can serve and reach more people, not just me doing it all alone. Staying current with trends and techniques in an industry that never stops evolving.
But every trial has shaped Brave Beauty into what it is today. And I wouldn’t trade the journey for anything.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Yes, we specialize in acne — but what we’re really doing is helping people fall back in love with their skin, and with themselves. Because when your skin feels out of control, it’s never just physical. It affects how you show up, how you smile, how confident you feel walking into a room.

What does success mean to you?
It’s the woman who hasn’t had a facial in 20 years, walking out with glowing skin and tears in her eyes.
It’s the woman battling cancer, who lost her lashes to treatment, sitting in my chair while we carefully place a few false lashes just to help her feel like herself again — beautiful, whole, seen.
It’s the teenage boy who’s been hiding behind his hoodie because of his acne, walking out with his head up a little higher, believing for the first time that his skin doesn’t define him.
These are the moments. This is the ripple effect of confidence I get to be part of, one face, one treatment, one transformation at a time.
That’s what I want to leave behind — not just a business, but a lasting legacy of people who feel seen, cared for, and beautiful inside and out.
