Today we’d like to introduce you to Noah Milliken.
Hi Noah, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Noah, and I’m currently pursuing my master’s degree in Cybersecurity. I actually hated school growing up and didn’t do very well in high school. When I got to college, though, something clicked and I became much more motivated and ended up graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Strategic Communications. While I enjoyed parts of that program, I realized it wasn’t the career I wanted, so I challenged myself by applying to a master’s program in Cybersecurity, despite having no formal background in the field. Thankfully, I was accepted, and today I have a 3.95 GPA.
Around the same time, I was struggling to find a job after graduation. Instead of waiting for an opportunity, I decided to create one myself. That decision led to the creation of Built By Noah, where I design and develop custom websites and web applications for businesses of all sizes. I’ve now been building websites and web apps for several years, and it’s been incredibly rewarding to watch clients grow using something I created.
More recently, I joined an amazing team at FlowGen Solutions, where we build AI automations and custom software that help businesses eliminate repetitive work and operate more efficiently. It’s exciting because every project is different, and we get to solve real business problems with technology instead of offering one-size-fits-all solutions.
Outside of work, I love traveling and have been fortunate enough to visit Thailand, Puerto Rico, much of Europe, and several Caribbean islands. I recently got engaged to my fiancée, Lily, who is an incredibly talented artist and hairstylist, and we’re hoping to get married in 2027. I’m also a huge animal lover. Right now I have three cats and several fish tanks, but over the years I’ve cared for everything from dogs and lizards to praying mantises, frogs, spiders, and even scorpions.
Looking ahead, my goal is simple, continue learning, continue building, and keep finding new ways to use technology to solve meaningful problems.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
While I feel incredibly fortunate for the life I have today, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. When I was young, my parents divorced, which created a lot of changes within my family. Around that same time, my aunt committed suicide, and very shortly after that, my grandfather passed away from a broken heart. Experiencing so much loss at a young age forced me to grow up quickly and taught me a lot of lessons surrounding life, death, and the pursuit of happiness.
Professionally, one of my biggest struggles came after finishing college. Like many recent graduates, I found it much harder than I expected to land a job. It was frustrating, but instead of letting that stop me, I decided to build something of my own. Joining Flowgen and creating Built by Noah shows that with hard work you can carve out a place in this world.
Looking back, these challenges shaped who I am. They taught me resilience, patience, and the importance of continuing to move forward even when things don’t go according to plan or are very hard to deal with.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I currently own Built By Noah, where I specialize in designing and developing custom websites and web applications for businesses that want something tailored specifically to their goals rather than a generic template. I enjoy working closely with clients to understand what makes their business unique and then building something that not only looks professional but also helps them attract customers and grow.
I’m also part of FlowGen Solutions, where our team develops AI automations, custom software, and business workflows that help companies save time, reduce repetitive work, and improve efficiency. One of the things I enjoy most about FlowGen is that every business has different challenges, so every solution we build is unique. Whether it’s connecting software, automating manual processes, or building entirely custom AI tools, we’re focused on solving real-world problems instead of simply selling technology.
What I’m most proud of is that everything I’ve learned has come from constantly challenging myself. Whether it’s web development, cybersecurity, AI, or software engineering, I’ve always enjoyed diving into new technologies and figuring them out. I think what sets me apart is my willingness to keep learning. Technology changes incredibly fast, and I genuinely enjoy adapting, improving my skills, and finding better ways to help the businesses I work with.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I think we’re entering one of the biggest technological shifts we’ll see in our lifetime. Artificial intelligence is already changing how businesses operate, but I believe we’re only scratching the surface. Over the next five to ten years, I expect AI to become a standard part of nearly every business, automating repetitive work, improving customer service, assisting employees, and helping companies make better decisions through data.
That’s one of the reasons I’m so excited about what we’re building at FlowGen Solutions. Our goal isn’t simply to add AI to businesses because it’s popular we want to solve real problems by creating practical automations and custom AI solutions that genuinely improve how companies operate. I think businesses that embrace these tools thoughtfully will have a significant advantage over those that wait.
Cybersecurity will also continue evolving just as quickly. Attackers are already using AI to create more sophisticated phishing campaigns, identify vulnerabilities, and automate attacks. At the same time, defenders are using AI to detect threats faster and respond more efficiently. I believe the future of cybersecurity will increasingly become AI defending against AI, with human experts guiding those systems and making the critical decisions.
For me personally, that’s what makes this industry so exciting. Technology never stands still, which means there’s always something new to learn, build, and improve. That’s exactly the kind of environment I want to be part of.
