Today we’d like to introduce you to NaJai Pollard.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is NaJai Pollard. I’m a professional international basketball player, entrepreneur, mentor, and founder of Supreme World LLC. I played collegiately at Delaware State University, where I became the school’s all-time leading scorer and inducted into the Hall of Fame, and I’ve spent the last several years playing professionally overseas in countries including Switzerland, Germany, the Czech Republic, and Israel.
Through my experiences as a player, I realized that there are so many talented athletes who have the ability to go further but don’t always have access to the right resources, relationships, or opportunities. That’s what inspired me to create Supreme World.
Supreme World is a sports and development organization focused on basketball training, mentorship, youth programs, camps, clinics, education, and international opportunities. One of our biggest initiatives is the Bangkok Bulls in Thailand, which gives players an opportunity to compete internationally and potentially use that exposure to pursue professional contracts overseas.
My bigger vision is to use basketball as a vehicle for personal development. I want to help athletes develop their mind, body, and soul while also preparing them for life beyond basketball.
Ultimately, I don’t just want to build a basketball program. I want to build an ecosystem that creates opportunities for athletes and young people, develops leaders, connects communities internationally, and continues giving back to the next generation.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all. One of the biggest struggles was to keep going. I have dealt with a lot of losses in my life and had some really low lows in my life. The biggest challenge was always to pick myself back up and to keep going. I struggled with my anxiety and depression that was associated with basketball and life. there have been several times I wanted to give up ad walk away but I just can’t bring myself to do it. My purpose is what keeps me going even when I don’t feel like it.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a professional basketball player and entrepreneur. I am most proud of my resilience. What sets me apart is my will to keep fighting no matter how weak and defeated I may feel.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I dont believe in luck. I believe in good karma and bad karma. I also believe in God. Without God, I wouldn’t be here today.
