Daily Inspiration: Meet Andrea Kanelopoulos

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Kanelopoulos.

Hi Andrea, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey began over three decades ago when I walked through a 14 year near death battle with Anorexia. I began speaking in schools, hospitals, treatment programs and more while trying to recover. Once I found a healing point, I authored a book, FIND YOUR VOICE PROJECT: A JOURNEY TOWARDS HEALING, about my journey and from there I knew I wanted to do more. I started Anam Nostos House, a mobile retreat center, as I am a minimalist at heart. I find amazing locations from the beach to the mountains and soon an excursion retreat in Italy! I loved the idea of bringing women together to share what I have learned along the way with different modalities as yoga, meditation, mindfulness, ceremony, art, and mindful eating. I found collaborators to walk with me and before you knew it, I was hosting up to 5 retreats a year. Since the beginning I have just published my fourth book and in 2027 will release the second edition and a workbook of my first book diving more in depth into my story as well as aging in recovery. Now, in my 23rd year of recovery, I teach and write; it is a journey not a destination. Anam is Celtic for Soul and Nostos is Greek for Homecomings. Today, through speaking engagements, retreats, coaching, and workshops, I walk with women to find and embrace their Soul Homecomings.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The greatest struggling is earning a living. When I was very sick, everything that could help me was out of my reach financially. It is my mission to create affordable offering. I have one full scholarship spot for every retreat and event, though the requests are multiple. I love my work, I believe in this work, and I will always make it affordable to all.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I believe that no one is unreachable. I meet every single person where they are at without judgement. My work isn’t always traditional. I believe in looking outside the box. I use affirmations, art and creative modalities to teach women how to find their true voice and self. I am able to help women through coaching, speaking engagements, my books and especially my retreats. The number one thing that makes me stand out is that I don’t believe in can’t. People tell me all the time I need to charge more, I need a better plan or investors. I can achieve anything I want in life as long as I believe in it. I beat more life struggles then most and I don’t take no for an answer.

How do you think about luck?
None, I would call it faith. I have an incredible gift of faith that anyone who knows me will tell you. The number of times where I came close to losing everything because of finances; something will work out. I simply won’t let myself fail.
