Today we’d like to introduce you to Maritza Leiva.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
2007 was the year, I moved to the United States, one of the toughest decisions I ever had to make. With many struggles along the way, including the language barrier, my dreams and hopes remained strong. In my heart, I was determined to do everything in my power to become a better version of me. Not only for myself, but for the family I was leaving behind. That promise would forevermore guide my life every step of the way.
I began working at an Italian restaurant as a cook and then over time, became a waitress. I soon noticed that serving had become part of me. I fell in love with customer service as I was promoted to a manager role.
2014 was the year I was offered to purchase a restaurant and after some time of thinking I decided to move forward with Stella Mia Pizzeria.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I was twenty five years old when I purchased Stella Mia Pizzeria and along the way I have experienced many struggles, including the language barrier, my age and definitely being a female while most restaurants are owned by men.
I can assure that for us as a restaurant, one of the most challenging times was during COVID one of the hardest times to stay open and to find help.
