Hi June, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey into entrepreneurship definitely wasn’t a straight line. After serving eight years in the U.S. Navy, I transitioned into a new chapter of my life, earned my degree in Business Administration, became a licensed esthetician, and eventually fell in love with entrepreneurship and the beauty industry.
Like many business owners, my journey came with setbacks. An earlier business venture didn’t work out the way I had hoped, but it taught me invaluable lessons about business, leadership, and trusting my own vision. Instead of letting that experience stop me, I chose to rebuild.
That journey eventually led me to create Luxe Luv Studios, a space where independent beauty professionals can build and grow businesses of their own. Today, I’m a wife, mom of four, veteran, student, and entrepreneur—and I’m still growing, learning, and building.
I’ve learned that sometimes what feels like starting over is really the beginning of building something better.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of my biggest challenges was experiencing the loss of a previous business and having to start over. It was a difficult season, but it taught me some of my most valuable lessons about leadership, finances, partnerships, and resilience.
I’ve also had to learn how to balance entrepreneurship with being a wife, mother of four, student, and everything else life brings. There have been plenty of moments when I’ve had to pivot, adjust, and figure things out as I went.
Those challenges ultimately made me a stronger business owner. I’ve learned not to view setbacks as failures, but as opportunities to learn, rebuild, and do things better the next time.
We’ve been impressed with Luxe Luv Studios , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Luxe Luv Studios is a beauty and wellness studio in Norfolk, Virginia, created to provide independent beauty professionals with a beautiful, professional space to grow their businesses while giving clients access to a variety of services all in one location.
Our studios are home to talented professionals specializing in hair, nails, esthetics, waxing, permanent makeup, lashes, barbering, and more. Each professional operates their own independent business, which allows clients to support multiple small business owners within one community.
What I’m most proud of is the environment we’ve created. Luxe Luv Studios isn’t just about renting suites—it’s about creating opportunities for other entrepreneurs to build their brands, serve their clients, and grow something of their own. As a small business owner myself, I understand how important it is to have a space that feels professional, welcoming, and supportive.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I see the beauty and wellness industry continuing to shift toward independence and entrepreneurship. More professionals are choosing to build their own brands, control their schedules, create personalized client experiences, and work in private studio spaces rather than traditional salon environments.
I also think clients are increasingly looking for convenience and personalized experiences, which makes beauty-suite concepts especially valuable. Over the next 5–10 years, I believe we’ll see even more professionals combining beauty, wellness, technology, and social media to grow their businesses in new ways.
For Luxe Luv Studios, my goal is to continue evolving with those changes while creating spaces where small business owners have the freedom and opportunity to grow. I would love to open a MedSpa and continue to grow Luxe Luv Studios in other cities here in Virginia.
