Today we’d like to introduce you to Charlotte Huger.
Hi Charlotte, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Nazz and I met back in 2019, and by 2020 we’d started working together as partners, long before Pillar Wealth Partners ever existed. Over those five years, we built a real partnership: figuring out how we worked together, what kind of advisors we wanted to be, and what we thought was broken about the traditional wealth management model.
What kept coming up was the same frustration, over and over: clients who felt like a number to their advisor. People who got handed a plan built around whatever products a firm sold, not around their actual goals, and once the paperwork was signed, the relationship went quiet.
So in 2025, after five years of working side by side, we took what we’d learned and started Pillar Wealth Partners a firm built around the idea that the plan should be built around the client first, and the products and strategies second.
We opened our first office in Vienna, Virginia, and have since added a second in Alexandria, building a team that now includes six financial professionals, two of whom are CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioners. We work with individuals and families across Northern Virginia and the DC metro area, a lot of federal employees, government contractors, and tech professionals whose financial situations don’t always fit a cookie-cutter plan.
We just wrapped up our first full year in business, and growth has been astounding. Along the way, Nazz has picked up some outside recognition too: he was named to The Chamber ALX’s 40 Under 40 for 2026 and to AdvisorHub’s “Advisors to Watch: Under $1B” list, and he’s also held Forbes’ Best-In-State Wealth Advisor recognition. But honestly, the thing we’re proudest of is simpler than any award, after five years of partnership, we built the kind of firm we always wished existed, and clients are noticing.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Honestly, no and I don’t think anyone would believe us if we said it was.
I started my career right in the middle of COVID, which was its own kind of trial by fire. Breaking into financial services when the world had shut down, everything was remote, and markets were in freefall taught me early on how to build client relationships and trust without ever meeting someone in person. It wasn’t the start I pictured, but it forced me to get resourceful fast.
Not long after, I moved to New York City for a couple of years —during this chapter I worked remote for the team. It was a valuable stretch professionally, but it also meant figuring out how to keep that partnership alive across the distance. When I moved back, we had to pick things back up and rebuild the day-to-day rhythm we’d had before I left.
Then came the bigger leap: after five years of building trust and a track record together inside someone else’s structure. Starting Pillar meant re-earning that trust all over again, not just with new clients, but with the clients who had followed us for years and had to believe that this new firm, with our name on the door, was going to take care of them just as well.
Being young in this industry has been its own hurdle too. Wealth management still skews toward advisors decades into their careers, and we’ve had to work to prove, repeatedly, that being millennial founders isn’t a liability, it’s actually an advantage. We understand the financial lives our clients are living now: dual careers, equity compensation, blended families, aging parents, kids’ education costs all hitting at once.
It hasn’t been a straight line, COVID, a cross-country move, rebuilding a partnership, then starting a firm from scratch, but every bit of it shaped how we built Pillar. And every bit of it has been worth it.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Pillar Wealth Partners ?
Pillar Wealth Partners is a comprehensive, fiduciary financial planning firm based in Vienna and Alexandria, Virginia, serving individuals and families across Northern Virginia and the DC metro area. We work with a lot of federal employees, government contractors, and tech professionals, people whose financial pictures come with real complexity: equity compensation, federal benefits and pensions, dual-career households, blended families.
What we specialize in is treating financial planning as genuinely comprehensive, not just investment management with a different name attached. Our process covers investment management, retirement planning, tax strategy, estate planning, and wealth protection, all built around one person’s or one family’s actual goals rather than a standardized model. We think of it the way an architect thinks about building a home, start with a strong foundation, plan carefully for every stage, and build something designed to last.
The biggest thing that sets us apart is that we’re an open-architecture firm. We’re not tied to any single company’s products or investment platforms, which means every recommendation we make is sourced from across the market and built specifically for the client in front of us, not whatever happens to be on a proprietary shelf. As fiduciaries, we’re also legally and ethically required to act in our clients’ best interest at all times, full stop.
We’re also proud of what “Pillar” actually represents. The two columns in our logo stand for the two commitments we make to every client: an unconditional fiduciary commitment to their financial wellbeing, and a commitment to real collaboration, working alongside their CPA, their estate attorney, and any other trusted professional in their life so every piece is aligned instead of siloed. That’s the model we want to keep building toward: a true one-stop shop where a client never has to wonder who’s looking out for the whole picture.
If there’s one thing I want readers to take away, it’s this: we started Pillar because we were tired of seeing people treated like a transaction. We built a firm where the relationship doesn’t end once the paperwork is signed, it’s ongoing, it’s personal, and it’s built by two people who’ve been partners for over six years and know exactly what kind of firm we wanted to build together.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
My best advice: don’t overthink the word “mentor.” Some of the most valuable relationships in my career didn’t start because I sat someone down and asked them to mentor me, they started because I showed up consistently, asked good questions, and stayed in touch even when there was nothing I immediately needed from that person.
