Hi Sierra , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Lil’ Rascals Pediatric Therapy really started as just a name and an idea. I created the LLC in 2025 with the hope that one day, when I move back to Florida, it would be an established clinic.
At first, it was really just me writing ideas in a Word document on my computer. I was thinking about what I wanted the space to look like, what kind of toys and equipment I wanted to have, how I wanted to meet each child’s needs, and how I could best support families as a whole.
I sat on the idea for a while, but around October 2025, I started feeling more and more frustrated with how transactional outpatient therapy can sometimes feel with such a big focus on productivity.
That was really when I started making real moves. I registered the business in Virginia and Washington, D.C., and then in December 2025, I took a leap of faith and rented a single office space in Old Town Alexandria. I started with very little and slowly added furniture, sensory items, toys, and games. Over time, that one small room started turning into the kind of therapeutic space I pictured.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been a pretty smooth road overall, with the caseload building gradually over time as more families started finding Lil’ Rascals and bringing their children in for services.
As you know, we’re big fans of Lil’ Rascals Pediatric Therapy . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Lil’ Rascals Pediatric Therapy is a pediatric occupational therapy clinic that focuses on helping children build the skills they need to be more confident and independent in their everyday lives. We support areas such as fine motor skills, visual motor skills, gross motor development, sensory processing, emotional regulation, and daily living skills from ages 1-18.
One thing that sets Lil’ Rascals apart is how involved families are in the therapy process. Parents are often right there in the session, learning strategies and working alongside their child so the skills we are practicing can carry over into everyday routines at home. Siblings can also be included when appropriate, which gives us a chance to work on real life skills like sharing, communication, compromise, problem solving, and simply learning how to have fun together.
What I am most proud of is the collaboration. I really value working closely with parents, teachers, and schools to create practical plans that support a child across different environments instead of only focusing on what happens during the therapy session.
At the heart of Lil’ Rascals is play. I want children to enjoy coming to therapy while also building meaningful skills that help them thrive at home, at school, in the community, and throughout their daily lives.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Something people that most people don’t know is much work I do outside of the actual therapy session. I spend time joining IEP meetings, consulting with teachers and family liaisons, and helping families navigate daycare or school supports for their child, all at no additional cost to them.
I am also very intentional when it comes to planning treatment sessions. I have purchased specific toys, games, or materials just because I knew they would help one child work on one specific skill.
