Today we’d like to introduce you to Jay.
Hi Jay, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey with TattooMyWalls really connects back to my background in Architecture. I’ve always been interested in design, spaces, and how something as simple as a wall can change the character of a room. Although my professional career later took me into technology and consulting, that interest in architecture and creativity always stayed with me.
One day, I came across a video on social media showing a wall-printing machine in action. I was amazed watching an image being printed directly onto a wall. That quickly turned into curiosity and excitement, and I started imagining all the possibilities — what could be created on a blank wall and how it could transform a space.
That’s really where the idea for TattooMyWalls began. I loved the combination of design and technology, and I started thinking about how digital artwork, photography, graphics, and branding could become part of a space in a completely different way.
That curiosity eventually became TattooMyWalls. We’re still early in our journey, but my goal is to introduce more people to this technology and keep exploring what can be created from a blank wall.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One of the biggest challenges has been awareness. Direct wall printing is still new to many people, and sometimes it’s difficult to explain until they actually see the machine printing directly onto a wall. Once they see it in action, they immediately understand the possibilities.
There has also been a learning curve. Every wall and every space is different, so each project teaches us something new — from wall surfaces and image preparation to understanding what works best in a particular space.
As a young business, I’m also learning to be patient, build our portfolio one project at a time, and better understand what customers are looking for. That learning process has been an important part of building TattooMyWalls.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
TattooMyWalls is a direct-to-wall printing business that helps turn ordinary walls into something more personal, creative, and memorable.
We use specialized vertical printing technology to print high-resolution digital artwork, photography, graphics, logos, and custom designs directly onto walls and other suitable vertical surfaces. Although walls are our main focus, the technology can work on a variety of materials, including drywall, concrete, wood, glass, plywood, plastic, canvas, and metal.
It can be used in homes, restaurants, offices, retail and hospitality spaces, and many other creative environments. Instead of being limited to wallpaper, vinyl, or traditional hand-painted murals, we can take a digital idea and bring it directly onto a surface at a large scale.
What sets TattooMyWalls apart is that we look at each project as more than just printing an image. The design, scale, surface, surrounding space, and how people will experience the finished result all matter. My background in architecture definitely influences the way I approach that.
The name TattooMyWalls reflects what I want the brand to represent — helping people look at their walls differently and giving those walls their own identity and personality. A blank wall can become artwork, a memory, a cultural expression, a business identity, or something completely personal.
I want TattooMyWalls to become a creative partner for homeowners, businesses, designers, and artists who have an idea and want to see it brought to life.
No wallpaper. No vinyl. Just print.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is that more choices don’t always make things easier. Early on, I thought showing customers many different ideas and possibilities would be helpful, but sometimes too many options can make the decision more difficult.
I’ve learned that part of my role is to understand what the customer is trying to achieve, narrow the possibilities, and guide them toward what works best for their space.
The same is true when someone already has a particular image in mind. An image may look great on its own, but that doesn’t always mean it will work well on a specific wall because of the scale, proportions, colors, or surrounding space. Sometimes the best thing I can do is suggest an adjustment or a different approach.
So one of my biggest lessons has been that good service isn’t about showing everything we can do or simply saying yes to everything — it’s about helping the customer feel confident about the right choice for their space.
