Hi April, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
The Birthing Room really started from my experience in healthcare. As I worked with patients, I realized I was becoming more connected to the emotional side of care. I found myself wanting to do more than just provide a service—I wanted to listen, encourage, and support people through what they were experiencing.
That’s what led me to create The Birthing Room. It grew from that desire to provide emotional and mental health support into a community-focused organization where we help individuals and families work through life, build healthier mindsets, discover purpose, and ultimately birth new possibilities.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Being a nonprofit owner has stretched me in ways I never expected. I’ve poured a lot of my own resources into The Birthing Room while navigating my own challenges, stepping into motherhood, and growing spiritually.
There were moments when I had to slow down and realize that I can’t pour from an empty cup. Now, I’m learning to build from a healthier place—to honor my purpose, take care of myself, be present as a mother, and allow God to lead the growth of The Birthing Room. I’m still building, but I’m no longer trying to do it all at once. I’m building with intention.
As you know, we’re big fans of The Birthing Room LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Our non profit organization is dedicated to helping individuals and families birth new possibilities by transforming mindsets, strengthening communities, and providing resources for growth.
We extend awareness through our programs including the following:
-Life Coaching
-Educational training programs
-Mental Health focused Community support
-Workshops
-Seminars
What sets us apart is our ability to provide and connect. We are not a one stop shop. We have connection to multiple establishments and influencers to help create an environment where people are comfortable, secure, and dedicated.
I’m most proud of the resilience of the organization and its prospects. The Birthing Room is more than just a name. It represents hope, healing, purpose, and possibilities for starting again.
I want readers to remember one thing when they see The Birthing Room; We are about creating a safe space where people can be supported through real-life challenges while gaining the tools and encouragement to grow. We believe everyone has the ability to birth something new—and sometimes they just need the right support and resources to help them get there.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I’ve learned that taking risks doesn’t always mean being fearless—it means being willing to move even when you don’t have everything figured out. Starting The Birthing Room was a risk, but I believed in the vision before I could see the results.
Now, I look at risk differently. I’m more intentional about what I say yes to, what aligns with my purpose, and what God is leading me toward. Sometimes the biggest risk is not trusting yourself enough to take the next step.
