Hi Adriana, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Pawtomac Paradise started simply from my love of dogs and grew organically through word of mouth and referrals. What began as caring for a few dogs has grown into a full-time business offering boarding, dog walking, and our newest service, Adventure Daycare. I’ve always wanted to create something different from traditional boarding, a home away from home where dogs are known individually, enjoy small groups and plenty of outdoor space, and are genuinely treated like family.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road! One of the biggest challenges has been learning how to set boundaries as the business has grown. When you care for people’s pets, it’s incredibly personal, and in the beginning I wanted to say yes to everyone and everything. Over time, I’ve learned that having clear policies, knowing my limits, and being selective about the dogs I take on ultimately allows me to provide better care. Like any small business, there has been a lot of trial and error along the way, but every challenge has helped shape Pawtomac Paradise into what it is today.

Pawtomac Paradise is a small, personalized pet-care business offering boarding, dog walking, and Adventure Daycare. We specialize in creating a home like experience rather than a traditional kennel environment, with small, carefully matched groups, plenty of outdoor space, and individualized care.
What I’m most proud of is the community and trust we’ve built with our clients, many of whom have been with us for years. Our newest offering, Adventure Daycare, has been especially exciting. Every Friday we take small groups of dogs on private adventures like swimming, hiking, and exploring farms and large fenced properties. I want dogs to do more than simply be “watched” I want them to have experiences, enrichment, and a place they’re genuinely excited to come back to.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Something people may not know is that outside of running Pawtomac Paradise, I’m also passionate about fostering and helping rescue dogs. Over the years, I’ve opened my home to dogs who needed a temporary place to land while waiting for their next chapter. It can be hard to say goodbye, but knowing that each goodbye makes room to help another dog has made fostering one of the most rewarding parts of my life.
