Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamara Moore.
Hi Tamara, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I originally started this journey simply because I wanted to earn some extra income and pay down some debt. I’ve always loved dogs, so I thought dog walking would be a fun way to make a little extra money on the side.
What started as part-time dog walking quickly grew into full-time doggie care. As more people trusted me with their dogs, I realized how much I loved not only caring for them, but also creating fun experiences for them and their owners.
From there, Dappy Dayz Dogs just kept evolving. I began making Bark-Cuterie boards and boxes, offering specialty treats and chews, and taking the business to local markets and pop-ups. That eventually led to our mobile Bark-Cuterie Cart, custom dog bead bar, birthday parties, private events and other dog-centered experiences.
Most recently, I took another big step and launched the Dappy Dayz Doggie Treat Trailer. Now we can travel to events and communities with our specialty dog treats, Bark-Cuterie, puptinis, pup cups, chews and all the fun things that have become part of the Dappy Dayz experience.
It’s amazing to look back and realize that something I started just to make a little extra money has grown into an actual brand and business that I’m incredibly passionate about. I didn’t start with some huge business plan or imagine all of this in the beginning. I simply started with dog walking, listened to my customers, kept coming up with new ideas and continued to grow.
And I still feel like Dappy Dayz Dogs is just getting started.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. One of my biggest challenges has been learning everything that comes with growing a business while still trying to run the business itself. There’s so much more behind the scenes than people realize—licenses, permits, regulations, insurance, finding the right events, purchasing inventory, pricing products and figuring out what customers actually want.
Another challenge has been learning not to be afraid to try something and change direction when it doesn’t work. Some events are amazing, while others may not turn out the way you hoped. Some products sell immediately and others don’t. I’ve learned to pay attention, adjust and keep moving.
Growing from dog walking and doggie care into markets, a mobile cart and eventually a treat trailer also meant continually investing back into the business. Each stage came with new expenses and new things I had to learn.
Probably my biggest lesson has been realizing that you don’t have to have everything figured out before you start. I’ve made mistakes, changed ideas and learned a lot along the way. Every challenge has helped me understand my business better and has pushed Dappy Dayz Dogs to become what it is today.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Dappy Dayz Dogs is all about creating fun, unique experiences for dogs and the people who love them. We specialize in Bark-Cuterie, specialty dog treats and drinks, our mobile Bark-Cuterie Cart, custom bead bar, private parties and our Doggie Treat Trailer. What sets us apart is the experience—we make shopping for your dog fun, interactive and memorable. I’m most proud of watching a small idea continue to grow into a brand that people recognize, support and get excited about.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something most people don’t know is that I never planned on building a dog business. I simply started walking dogs to make some extra money and pay down debt. Thanks to Dave Ramsey lol
I had no idea it would grow into doggie care, markets, Bark-Cuterie, a mobile cart, private events and eventually my own Doggie Treat Trailer. Sometimes the best things happen when you just start!
