Meet Tracey Hairston of Virginia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tracey Hairston.

Hi Tracey, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
MochaGirl Place began with my love of finding beautiful vintage home décor and imagining how each piece could bring character and warmth to a space. As I shared my finds and home online, people connected not only with the décor but also with my approach to creating a personal, lived-in home.

That encouragement inspired me to expand beyond selling vintage pieces and begin creating content focused on interiors, styling, plants, DIY projects, and everyday life at home. Over time, MochaGirl Place grew into a creative platform and led to partnerships with interior design, home décor, and plant brands that aligned with my vision.

Today, MochaGirl Place reflects my journey from vintage décor to content creation and meaningful brand collaborations—all rooted in my love of home, plants, design, and storytelling.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My journey, however, has not always been easy or predictable. Building a creative business online means constantly adapting to changes in social media, shifting algorithms, new content demands, and the ever-changing ways people discover and engage with creators. Brand collaborations can also fluctuate, with some seasons bringing exciting opportunities and others requiring patience, persistence, and a willingness to keep showing up without knowing what will come next.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As a content creator, I specialize in creating inspiring, relatable, and visually engaging content centered around the home. I share interior styling ideas, room refreshes, vintage décor, home organization, DIY projects, plant care, and ways to make a space feel more intentional without losing its personality. My content combines practical tips with storytelling, showing how thoughtful details, meaningful pieces, and a little creativity can transform everyday spaces.

I also specialize in creating lifestyle content that highlights the connection between home, plants, and personal expression. Whether I’m styling a room, incorporating greenery into a space, sharing a decorating project, or showcasing a product, my goal is to make the content feel authentic, approachable, and useful. I enjoy helping my audience see the potential in their own homes and encouraging them to create spaces that feel welcoming, comfortable, and uniquely theirs.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
The home and lifestyle content industry has become more personal, interactive, and community-driven. While polished images and perfectly styled spaces once dominated the conversation, audiences are increasingly drawn to content that feels honest, attainable, and reflective of real life. People want to see the process behind a finished room, the imperfections in a home, and the practical choices that make a space work day to day.

I also see the industry moving toward more intentional and sustainable choices. Consumers are showing greater interest in vintage, secondhand, handmade, and long-lasting products rather than constantly replacing everything in their homes. This closely aligns with the foundation of MochaGirl Place: meaningful spaces are created through personal finds, thoughtful styling, and pieces that can be enjoyed for years.

For me, the future is about evolving without losing the heart of my brand.I want to explore new formats, platforms, and creative opportunities while staying true to the values that brought me here: finding beauty in the everyday, making a home feel personal, incorporating plants and nature into our spaces, and showing that good design does not have to be expensive, perfect, or complicated.
