Conversations with Suncrest Band

Today we’d like to introduce you to Suncrest Band.

Hi Suncrest, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
We first started off as just people who knew of each other but weren’t really that tight together, we interned on the same week for a summer camp at the School of Rock. Dexter (Second GTR + Vox) and Will (Lead GTR) were sitting on a couch and Will wrote a riff and Dexter just naturally added a guitar harmony to it and I (Joaquin, bass) joined in with a simple bass line. The little song sounded real good and we were all like “Yo we should start a band bro,” we needed a drummer so we asked the best drummer we knew, Matt, and of course he agreed. So it was a total organic type of formation.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been a kinda smooth road but there have definitely forks in the road and some bumps. Mainly the distance situation now with Dexter in college it has been really hard to find time when everybody is available to drive out and perform a show. We’ve dealt with losses before, like we entered in the Loudoun County Youth battle of the bands and our first year we got second place and then the second time we went in we didn’t even get placed for anything at all so that hurt the morale. But we picked ourselves up from the bootstraps and focused in and were like “Yo we’re not gonna let this stuff mess with us,” so we moved on (as mature people should) and just started performing as many shows as we could and kept growing our following show by show.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We create alternative rock music, and are known for our stage presence, rhythmic drumming, and sweet melodic guitar riffs. We are most proud of our album that released out on every streaming platform, it is definitely such a wild thought to think about how we started and see how far we have come it’s definitely an excellent experience.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
We hope to see this band blow up in popularity and make it big. We hope to get a record deal and be able to go into a professional recording studio and tour all around with fans always at every stop and sell out stadiums and make an impact on music.
