Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Lehr.
Hi Nicole, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have been in the spa industry since the late 90s. I started as an apprentice in a local natural nail shop. Later in 2004 I become a holistic aesthetician, opened and ran a spa for 10+ years while also providing services.
I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018 while raising two small kids and a husband.
Last year I changed my business model and restructured to room rental. Everyone is their own business now and I am only in charge of my own happiness. I am also building a business.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In April 2016 I was told I would be loosing my job in 5 weeks when the spa I was working for closed its doors.
I decided to open Purity with a business partner in May 2016. She was massage and I was everything else.
After two years of being open, in 2018 I went through treatment for stage 3 triple negative breast cancer. chemo, radiation and multiple surgeries to follow.
Feb 2020 my Business partner decided to leave and I was solo. She was the massage to our spa. I had to decided where I was going to take Purity.
March of 2020 Covid hit.
We could not perform facials for 9 months.when we could they wanted to client to wear a mask during the facial which made it difficult. Thank goodness I had my nail license and had nails to fall back on.
Fast forward six years and I was tired. I decided to remove anything that no longer brought me happiness.
In April of 2025 I told my staff my plan for the end of the year and half of them quit with minimal to no notice. It was a blow.
In 2025 I started Integrative Aesthetics. Focusing on blending modern day treatments with ancient intentional skin rituals designed to slow the nervous system. Helping you pause for a moment.
As you know, we’re big fans of Integrative Aesthetics, Williamsburg . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I am a holistic aesthetician and natural nail technician. Using only clean, pure, good for you products in all of my services. Although facial massage is my specialty, I love to blend modern day treatments with ancient, slow, intentional rituals
I have my certifications in lymphatic drainage, Gua Sha, Thai poultice, connective tissue massage, buccal massage and facial cupping.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I think people are starting to see that there is something to the holistic approach in skin care. Facial massage and lymphatic drainage are in right now. Let’s hope it will stay in the spotlight.
I suspect people will pay more attention to their internal wellbeing rather than just their outer.
