Check Out Amelia Marin’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amelia Marin.

Hi Amelia, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started posting on Amelia the Foodie in 2024. This year I was planning a wedding, renovating my house, studying to be a financial advisor all on top of working full time. I was extremely stressed and needed some kind of outlet. I have always been a “foodie” but funny enough I hate cooking, that’s always been my husband’s strength. I started taking posting about my meals at restaurants and what my husband cooked for us, not thinking it would go anywhere. Then my favorite brands started sending me products and I realized what this could turn into. This started as an outlet but ironically it became a lot of work added onto my already full plate. Once my busy year of 2024 was over, I was able to put more time into social media. For my full time job I work as a financial advisor alongside my Dad in his business. I now say social media is my second “job”, but I absolutely love it. I love the opportunities I have received and I especially love connecting with other small businesses in my area and helping bring attention to them.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Most of my struggles come from figuring out to balance my full-time job and social media. It takes a lot of time to film, edit, respond to comments, and research content ideas. Most of my evenings and weekends are spent filming and editing videos. My other struggle is being too critical on myself. It’s so easy to compare myself to other creators and see how successful they are and think that my videos aren’t good enough. It’s a major shift to reframe my thinking to look at other creators for inspiration, not to criticize myself.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I make content on social media ranging from recipes, day in the life, product reviews, and highlighting local restaurants and businesses. I love connecting with local businesses to help spread the word about them. What sets me apart is my authenticity. I don’t want to showcase things I don’t actually enjoy.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
In my social business my biggest supporter has been my husband. He supported me when I started this journey and when I was juggling a lot in 2024. He always gives me encouragement, helps me edit my videos, and always comes along on my foodie adventures. He also is the better cook so a lot of the food I showcase is actually his cooking! Of course my family has also been so supportive of me. No matter what I get myself into, they are always so interested and so encouraging.
