Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Cordone-Greene.
Hi Megan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In 2011 I began as a dual major in clinical massage therapy and nursing. My goal was to work in both fields. As I studied deeper in both subjects, I eventually moved away from the nursing program altogether and graduated with a clinical massage therapy degree. Over the next few years, I finished another undergraduate degree in wellness management and a master’s degree in health promotion and community health.
During the time of my studies, I worked as a clinical massage therapist in a nationally known fertility clinic, a wellness center, and a small medical massage practice. I gained hands-on skills, client experiential skills, clinical confidence, and direction of what I wanted to offer when I were ready to open my own practice. I knew it wasn’t the question of opening a private practice, but more of when I would open my own practice.
In 2019 I had the opportunity to open my practice part-time. I rented space from a gracious colleague and slowly built my clientele prior to COVID. As COVID hit, I took the time to train my body as a full-time massage therapist, built my branding, and worked on my professional development. I had the ability to reopen in May 2020 as a clinical massage therapist and within six months was steadily booked.
Throughout family milestones, including my pregnancies, family moves, and minor personal injuries, I have continued to grow my practice with many seasoned clients and new clients too. I’ve studied various certification courses and classes to enhance my sessions, and most importantly, my client experiences. My goal for every session and for every client, new and old, remains the same: to facilitate and aid in my client’s discomfort and pain utilizing my extensive education and hands-on skills.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, of course not. A few struggles include COVID, personal injuries, and extended leave due to pregnancies. There were many unknowns I learned to let go of and trust I’d be able to return and grow in the next season of my practice.
As you know, we’re big fans of ACG Integrative Wellness. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
My business is built on clinical massage therapy and education. I specialize in medical and clinical massage and am known for my extensive knowledge in clinical massage therapy. I offer specializations including TMJ and intraoral massage, myofascial massage, trigger point therapy (NMT), Bowen therapy, acupressure, and shiatsu. Ultimately, it is my clinical touch that highlights my specializations.
My clinical assessments, treatments, and techniques are ultimately what sets me apart from others in the industry. I was trained by some of the best clinical massage therapists in the country and attended one of the best schools in the country as well.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I’ve been blessed to have many colleagues who I have befriended over the years. We have each other’s backs and support one another’s businesses and endeavors. We refer each other clients, attend one another’s gatherings, and have one another to lean on during harder days or to even simply ask a question. This is huge, as Northern Virginia is a busy, metropolitan area and to have supportive businesses in your corner, I say that is good luck! This also means I have built a wonderful referral network for my clients, which only helps my clients and their sessions in return!
