Today we’d like to introduce you to Charlie Getty.
Hi Charlie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started creating videos when I was really young, I would make random YouTube videos and Musically’s just because I genuinely loved it. At the time, I never looked at it as a career, it was just something that felt natural to me. As I got older, one of my close friends started taking social media seriously and told me I had the personality for it too. That honestly pushed me to start posting consistently and putting real effort into learning content creation.
A year into taking it seriously, I grew an audience by posting relatable and lifestyle content, honestly just sharing parts of my real life. I think what helped me connect with people is that I’ve always tried to be genuine online instead of pretending to have a perfect life. Most of my audience is young girls, and I’ve tried to create a space where people feel understood, supported, and entertained at the same time.
Now I’ve been able to turn something I loved as a kid into a real career. I get to work with brands, travel, meet incredible people, and inspire others while still doing something I genuinely enjoy every day.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been learning how to handle pressure and criticism online at a young age. When you put your life on the internet, people form opinions about you without fully knowing you, and learning not to take every comment personally took time.
Another challenge has been balancing consistency with real life. Social media moves very fast, and there’s constant pressure to always post more, keep up with trends, and stay relevant.
I’ve always been a very Type A person and someone who likes to perfect things the first time around but content creation showed me that things don’t always go as planned, and sometimes the videos you least expect end up being the ones people connect with the most. Learning to keep going through changes has been a huge part of my journey.
At the end of the day, every challenge has helped me grow and learn how to build something long term instead of focusing only on short term success.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a lifestyle and beauty content creator focused on relatable content for young girls. I create videos centered around beauty, skincare, and daily life on TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram. I’m most proud of building a strong audience by being authentic and consistent from a young age. I think what sets me apart is that I focus on making content people genuinely connect with rather than trying to appear perfect online.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love that the Richmond and Chesterfield area has a strong sense of community and so many creative local businesses, restaurants, and creators. It feels like there’s always something growing here.
One thing I dislike is that creative careers and social media jobs are sometimes underestimated, especially for younger people.
