Today we’d like to introduce you to Carlyn Menser.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Carlyn Menser is a real estate professional and community advocate who has served Hampton Roads since 2006. A co-founder and co-owner of RE/MAX Connect, she brings experience in residential, commercial, luxury and corporate relocation real estate. Carlyn puts her emphasis on client education, compassionate service and a collaborative brokerage culture that supports agents’ professional and personal growth.
Her commitment to service extends beyond real estate. Carlyn serves on the United Way of the Virginia Peninsula’s board and has been a founding board member of ECHO Family Care Partners since 2018. She volunteered with Hampton Foster Care from 2010 to 2020 and supports Peake Early Childhood and Title I schools in Hampton and Newport News. Across her career and volunteer work, her focus is consistent: building relationships, strengthening families and connecting people with opportunities and support.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Working the fast paced Hampton Roads market with various economic factors has presented the need to emphasized a continual growth mindset as well as fast-paced adapting to stay on top of market trends.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
RE/MAX Connect is a female owned real estate brokerage serving Hampton Roads. My business partners, Shannon Edwards and Christen Campbell, and I built the company around a shared belief: strong relationships, collaboration and a commitment to community create a better experience for our clients and agents.
We offer residential and commercial real estate services, property management. My personal focus includes residential and commercial sales and leasing. I enjoy helping people see possibilities—whether that means finding a home for their next chapter, securing space for a growing business or evaluating an investment.
What sets us apart is the care we bring to the process. We take time to understand why someone is making a move, explain their options and develop a plan around their goals. Real estate often involves major life transitions, and we believe our role requires both practical expertise and empathy.
I’m most proud of the culture we’ve created. Our agents share knowledge, support one another and stay focused on serving clients well. That same commitment carries into our community through volunteering, nonprofit leadership and partnerships with local schools and organizations.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Very little luck and lots of mentoring and collaboration!
