Today we’d like to introduce you to Kruti.
Hi Kruti, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I never really planned on becoming a Professional Organizer. In fact, if you had asked me 15 years ago what I’d be doing today, I’m pretty sure this wouldn’t have been my answer!
I started my career as a research scientist in the pharmaceutical industry, where I spent close to 10 years before making a transition into information technology. I went on to work as a business analyst and project manager for another decade. Two very different industries, but both appealed to the part of me that loves problem-solving, figuring out how things work, and finding ways to make them work better.
Then came the pandemic, and like so many people, life took an unexpected turn. I found myself helping with the day-to-day operations of my husband’s business. What started as lending a hand turned into nearly two and a half years of learning the ins and outs of running a small business. I was setting up systems, improving processes, organizing information, and generally trying to make things run a little more smoothly. Somewhere along the way, I realized that this was the kind of work I genuinely enjoyed.
That experience got me thinking about how I could bring together everything I’d learned over the years and use it to help others. And that’s how We Organize came to life in 2024.
Today, I work with individuals, families, busy professionals, and small business owners, helping them organize not just their physical spaces, but also their digital lives, photos, and everyday systems. My background in science, technology, and business operations definitely influences how I approach my work. I tend to look beyond the clutter to understand what’s causing it in the first place and what kind of system would actually work for that particular person or organization.
The past couple of years have been quite an adventure! I’ve had the opportunity to serve on the board of NAPO’s Washington, DC chapter, conduct workshops, speak at business events, and most recently, become a contributing author of *Building Freedom*, an Amazon #1 bestselling collaborative book. My chapter, “Organize for the Business You’re Becoming,” brings together many of the lessons I’ve learned along the way.
What I enjoy most is that every client and every project is different. There’s something incredibly satisfying about helping someone go from feeling overwhelmed to feeling like they finally have a handle on things.
Looking back, I sometimes smile at how different my career looks from where it started. But the more I think about it, the more it makes sense. I’ve always enjoyed bringing order to things, whether that meant working in a research lab, managing an IT project, or helping someone finally get their home office or digital files under control. I just get to do it in a much more personal way now, and I love that.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Oh, definitely not! It’s been an exciting journey, but there have certainly been challenges along the way.
One of the biggest adjustments was going from working in established organizations, where there were defined roles, teams, and processes, to starting a business where suddenly you’re responsible for just about everything! Being good at organizing and creating systems is one thing, but running a business also means learning about marketing, sales, finances, networking, and a whole lot of things you may not have anticipated.
Another challenge has been learning to put myself out there. Coming from a science and technology background, I was much more comfortable working behind the scenes, solving problems, and letting my work speak for itself. As a business owner, I’ve had to learn that people need to know who you are and what you do before they can appreciate the value you bring. Building relationships, talking about my business, and promoting myself didn’t necessarily come naturally at first.
And then there’s my tendency to overthink things and want everything done just right! I’ve had to remind myself more than once that sometimes getting something done is better than waiting until it’s perfect. That’s still a work in progress, if I’m being completely honest.
Another important lesson has been understanding that building a business takes time. You can pour your heart, energy, and countless hours into something without always seeing immediate results. I’ve learned the importance of being patient, showing up consistently, trusting the process, and celebrating the small wins along the way. After all, progress isn’t always measured by how quickly you grow, but by how steadily you keep moving forward.
What has made the journey so much more meaningful, though, is the people I’ve met along the way. I’ve been fortunate to find incredibly supportive professional and business communities, especially through NAPO, the Loudoun Chamber of Commerce, and the CEO Sisterhood Community (The CEO Woman). Being surrounded by people who are willing to share their knowledge, open doors, and genuinely cheer each other on has made a tremendous difference.
I’m still learning, still figuring things out, and probably always will be. But I think that’s part of what makes entrepreneurship so rewarding. Every challenge teaches you something, not just about running a business, but about yourself as well.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We Organize is a Northern Virginia-based business specializing in professional organizing, digital organization, and productivity solutions for individuals, families, busy professionals, and small business owners throughout the DC metropolitan area.
When people hear “professional organizer,” they often think of someone organizing closets, pantries, or garages. And yes, we do all of that! But We Organize goes beyond physical spaces. We also help clients organize their digital lives, manage photo collections, and create practical systems to simplify everyday tasks and business operations.
Our services focus on four main areas: home organizing, digital organizing, photo organizing, and productivity & business systems consulting.
What sets We Organize apart is the combination of these services and the perspective I bring from my background in scientific research, information technology, project management, and business operations. I tend to look beyond the clutter to understand what’s causing it in the first place. My goal isn’t simply to make things look organized, but to create systems that are practical, sustainable, and genuinely make life easier.
I’m especially passionate about digital organizing and helping people feel more confident with technology. We rely so heavily on our phones, computers, and digital tools, yet many of us struggle to manage the information and responsibilities that come with them. Sometimes the answer isn’t another app or a new system. It’s simply making better use of what we already have.
Our tagline, Your Life, Your Way, reflects something I strongly believe in: there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to organizing. What works beautifully for one person may not work for another. We take the time to understand our clients’ habits, lifestyles, and challenges before finding solutions that work for them.
What I’m most proud of is that We Organize is about much more than tidy spaces or neatly arranged files. It’s about helping people feel less overwhelmed, more productive, and more in control of their time and surroundings.
If there’s one thing I’d love readers to take away, it’s that you don’t have to be naturally organized to enjoy the benefits of organization. Sometimes a few thoughtful changes can make a world of difference.
And that’s really what We Organize is all about— creating calmer spaces, clearer systems, and more time for what matters most.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
