Today we’d like to introduce you to Alvin Petitt.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was laid off from a large technology company back in 2001. Once that happened, I knew that I didn’t want to work for somebody else again. So I started A & S Technology Solutions in early 2003 and that’s still going today. Back in approximately 2019, I got my life insurance license. And because of my personal situation, I knew that I would need to work long into my retirement years. So one of my customers was a local insurance agency and they approached me saying that one of the owners wanted to retire and sell his life, health and Medicare agency. They told me that they liked the way that I handled my customers and wanted to know if I was interested in taking that over and purchasing the agency since they knew I had my license. So Petitt Insurance Services was born about two years ago.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Back in the beginning, it was really a struggle with my technology business and being a new business owner. But I’ve been very blessed throughout that time period in being able to make a living even through the very lean times. Purchasing the insurance agency has been a godsend because I can continue working this business as long as I have my mental capabilities.

As the owner of Petitt Insurance Services I genuinely love to help people. My agency is a brokerage that is appointed with numerous carriers in the life, health and Medicare insurance products industry.
As an insurance brokerage I help my clients find the insurance plan that fits their budget and health needs. I work with numerous companies so I do the shopping for you. Services offered include – Final Expense (burial cost), Medicare Insurance products, Term and Whole Life Insurance, & individual Health Insurance.
I will be there for you every step of the way. I offer my clients year round customer care – such as explaining how Medicare works, how to create your own will, helping with policy questions and answer your questions about identity theft protection, etc. I have a crocheted Jesus on my desk that my wife made for me. And that’s how I run my business. I take care of my customers business-wise and genuinely care for my clients.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I am a former police officer, current volunteer firefighter and fire chaplain, father of 6 and grandfather of 15 (last count).
