Today we’d like to introduce you to Ankita Gandhi.
Hi Ankita, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey has been a mix of new beginnings, personal growth, and discovering different sides of myself along the way.
I was born and raised in India, and my life took a new direction when I moved to the United States after getting married. Moving to a new country was exciting, but it also came with its own adjustments. I was leaving behind a familiar life, learning to navigate a new environment, and slowly building a sense of belonging.
Over the years, my husband and I have built a life together in Northern Virginia, a place I now proudly call home. From exploring new destinations to discovering local restaurants and celebrating our Indian traditions, many of our shared experiences have become an important part of my story.
Professionally, I have built my career in business analysis and project management. I enjoy working with people, solving problems, and turning ideas into meaningful solutions. Earning my Project Management Professional (PMP) certification was one of my proudest milestones and a reminder of how much I value continuous learning and growth.
But there has always been another side of me that loves fashion, travel, food, and storytelling. That passion eventually led me to create “Style with AG”, my Instagram platform where I share my personal style, local discoveries, travel adventures, and everyday experiences.
What started as a creative outlet gradually became something much more meaningful. It encouraged me to explore the DMV area through a different lens, connect with local businesses, discover hidden gems, and meet people who share similar interests. Along the way, I also began exploring opportunities to collaborate with brands and create content around experiences I genuinely enjoy.
Balancing a full-time career with content creation has been an interesting journey in itself. Some days revolve around project meetings, requirements, and deadlines, while others involve planning outfits, exploring a new restaurant, or capturing moments from our travels. I enjoy both worlds, and I have realized they complement each other more than I initially imagined.
Looking back, one of the biggest things I have learned is that we do not have to define ourselves by just one role. We can be ambitious about our careers while still making space for creativity, curiosity, and the things that bring us joy.
Today, I am proud of the life I have built, the experiences I have had, and the connections I continue to make. And perhaps my favorite part is knowing that there is still so much more to explore, create, and experience.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
One of my biggest challenges after moving to the United States was building a social circle and finding a sense of belonging.
When you move to a new country, you are not just adjusting to a different place. You are also leaving behind the comfort of familiar faces, spontaneous plans with friends, family gatherings, and a community that has always been part of your life. Those are the little things you sometimes do not realize you will miss until you are miles away from them.
I quickly realized that making friends as an adult is not as easy as it sounds. Meaningful friendships take time, and finding people you genuinely connect with does not happen overnight. There were moments when I missed that sense of familiarity, but those experiences also encouraged me to become more independent, open-minded, and intentional about building relationships.
Over time, I started saying yes to more experiences, exploring new places, and creating opportunities to meet people. My creative journey with “Style with AG” has added another dimension to that. It has introduced me to people with similar interests, helped me discover local communities, and given me opportunities to connect with fellow creators and businesses around the DMV area.
Another challenge has been balancing a full-time professional career with something I am equally passionate about creatively. Content creation is fun, but there is also a lot of work behind the scenes. From planning and creating content to staying consistent and building relationships, it requires time, patience, and dedication. I am still learning how to find that balance, and I think that is part of the journey.
Looking back, one of the most valuable lessons I have learned is that belonging is not always something you find immediately. Sometimes, it is something you gradually create through the people you meet, the experiences you share, and the life you build for yourself.
Today, Northern Virginia feels like home, not just because I live here, but because of the friendships, memories, and connections I have made along the way. And that is something I am genuinely grateful for.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am the creator behind “Style with AG”, a fashion, lifestyle, food, and travel platform where I share my personal style, local discoveries, and experiences around Northern Virginia, the DMV area, and beyond.
What I enjoy most about content creation is the storytelling behind it. Whether I am styling an outfit, discovering a new restaurant, exploring a destination, or trying something for the first time, I love capturing those experiences and sharing them in a way that feels genuine, relatable, and inspiring.
My content is a reflection of the things I genuinely enjoy. Fashion allows me to express my personality and creativity, while food and travel give me opportunities to explore new places, experience different cultures, and connect with people. I especially enjoy discovering local businesses and sharing experiences that might inspire someone else to visit, explore, or try something new.
Being originally from India and now living in Northern Virginia also brings a unique cultural perspective to my content. I enjoy celebrating my Indian roots while embracing the lifestyle and experiences around me. That blend naturally influences my personal style, the places I explore, and the stories I choose to share.
Alongside content creation, I work full-time in business analysis and project management. Interestingly, I have found that my professional and creative worlds complement each other. My analytical side helps me approach projects with planning, organization, and attention to detail, while my creative side allows me to experiment, tell stories, and connect with people in a different way.
One of the things I am most proud of is building “Style with AG” while continuing to grow professionally. What began as a personal creative outlet has introduced me to new experiences, opportunities to collaborate with brands, and meaningful connections with local businesses and fellow creators.
I think what sets my content apart is that I approach it from the perspective of someone who genuinely enjoys the experiences I share. I am not trying to create a picture-perfect lifestyle. I want my content to feel approachable, whether it is an outfit someone can recreate, a restaurant worth visiting, or a destination that deserves a spot on their travel list.
Ultimately, my goal with “Style with AG” is to create a space where fashion meets everyday experiences, where local discoveries are celebrated, and where people feel inspired to explore more, express themselves, and enjoy the little things along the way.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I would describe myself as a calculated risk-taker. I like to think things through, weigh my options, and have a plan, but I also believe that some of the best experiences in life come from stepping outside your comfort zone.
Moving from India to the United States after getting married was one of the biggest changes in my life. It meant embracing a new environment and a future that was not entirely predictable. That experience taught me to be adaptable, open-minded, and more comfortable with uncertainty.
Starting “Style with AG” was a different kind of leap. I have always loved fashion, travel, food, and exploring new places, so creating content felt like a natural extension of my interests. I did not know where it would lead, but I knew it was something I wanted to explore.
As I continued creating content, I started experimenting with new ideas, reaching out to brands, and exploring opportunities I might not have considered before. Some ideas worked, others did not, and not every opportunity turned into a collaboration. But each experience taught me something, whether it was about creativity, communication, or simply having the confidence to take initiative.
My professional background in business analysis and project management has shaped how I approach decisions. I naturally like to plan and understand the bigger picture, but my creative journey has reminded me that you cannot always predict the outcome of something new. Sometimes, you have to take the first step and figure things out along the way.
For me, taking risks does not always mean making dramatic, life-changing decisions. Sometimes, it is about saying yes to an unfamiliar experience, pursuing an opportunity, or giving an idea a chance even when there are no guarantees.
I would rather look back and be proud that I gave something a chance than wonder what might have happened if I had never tried.
