Today we’d like to introduce you to Kara Bishop.
Hi Kara, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Content creation is just a very small business that I began at a point in my life where I needed something to get excited about. My husband and I were going through unexplained secondary infertility in 2023 and 2024and anyone who has gone through various fertility treatments knows that scheduling appointments is cumbersome and also can be unpredictable. We found ourselves planning things and then having to cancel or not planning at all in fear we would have to cancel. Finally, I decided that I wasn’t going to let doctor’s appointments and check-ups determine our schedule so we started traveling even more than we were already and I created my social media account to document our travels. I decided that we would book one trip each month to look forward to whether it was a roadtrip, international, or just a few states away. We often brought our daughter with us as well which made it even more special.
Now a couple years later, we are still traveling with our 3 total kids and I get to also create content for places and brands all while sharing my day to day mom life and hopefully motivating other moms that they can still have fun and take their kids on adventures even when it seems stressful and not worth it.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I think the biggest struggles are getting over the weirdness of talking to a camera and being afraid of rejection. Once you’re okay with those things, it’s all about how much effort you want to put into it. I try not to stress myself out especially because it’s not my full time job.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a teacher full-time and content creator on the side, very part-time. I started posting content to share my family’s travels and joy during stressful time in our life and it evolved to more. I’m proud that I haven’t stopped doing it even after we got through our hard times and are on the other side.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was very athletic and involved in a lot of sports, ultimately choosing to play D1 softball in college. I was goofy and bold and outgoing but also had a reserved side to me if I wasn’t fully comfortable in a room. I was very determined and goal-oriented and didn’t really give myself the option of failure.
