Today we’d like to introduce you to Connell Lee.
Hi Connell, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve always believed that financial planning is about much more than money. It’s about helping people create the freedom and confidence to live the lives they envision.
As a Financial Advisor with Kuttin Wealth Management, a private wealth advisory practice of Ameriprise Financial Services, LLC, I’ve built my practice around listening first. Every client has a unique story, set of values, and vision for the future. My role is to understand what matters most to them and then help create a financial strategy that supports those goals.
One of the experiences that shaped my perspective was watching a loved one battle Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Seeing firsthand how quickly life can change reinforced the importance of thoughtful planning, protecting the people we love, and preparing for the unexpected. That experience continues to influence the way I serve my clients today.
Throughout my career, I’ve been passionate about financial education because I know how intimidating financial planning can feel. Many clients come to me unsure where to start. My goal is to simplify complex topics, help them understand their options, and empower them to make informed decisions with confidence.
Today, nothing is more rewarding than seeing clients achieve goals they once thought were out of reach, whether that’s funding a child’s education, retiring confidently, traveling more, caring for family members, or simply gaining peace of mind about the future.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road.
One of the biggest challenges is helping people overcome fear and uncertainty around money. Many clients come to me feeling overwhelmed by financial decisions or concerned about making mistakes that could impact their future.
Over the years, I’ve learned that successful financial planning isn’t just about investments or numbers. It’s about helping people stay focused on what’s most important during life’s highs and lows. Markets change, careers evolve, family situations shift, and unexpected events happen. During those moments, clients need a trusted advisor who can provide perspective and guidance.
The personal experience of watching a loved one face a serious illness also taught me that financial planning must be about more than wealth accumulation. It needs to help people navigate life’s unexpected challenges with confidence and dignity. That lesson continues to guide every client relationship I build.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Kuttin Wealth Management, a private wealth advisory practice of Ameriprise Financial Services, LLC?
At Kuttin Wealth Management, we help individuals, families, and business owners create financial strategies that align with their goals, values, and vision for the future. While we provide comprehensive wealth management and financial planning services, what truly defines our work is the relationships we build with our clients.
I specialize in helping clients navigate important life transitions, including retirement, wealth preservation, retirement income planning, estate planning, education funding, and multigenerational wealth transfer. Many of my clients come to me during pivotal moments in their lives when they need a trusted guide to help them make informed decisions and move forward with confidence.
What sets me apart is my belief that great financial planning begins with listening. Before discussing investments or strategies, I take the time to understand each client’s story, priorities, fears, and aspirations. My goal is to simplify complex financial concepts and empower clients through education so they can feel confident about the decisions they’re making.
Over the years, I’ve found that clients don’t just want financial advice. They want clarity. They want peace of mind. They want to know that they’re making smart choices for themselves and the people they love. That’s why I focus on building long-term relationships rather than simply managing portfolios.
The part of our brand I am most proud of is the impact we have on people’s lives. Seeing clients achieve goals they once thought were out of reach, funding a child’s college education, retiring comfortably, caring for aging parents, taking time away from work during a family crisis, or pursuing lifelong dreams, is incredibly rewarding. When clients tell me they feel less stressed and more confident because of the planning we’ve done together, that’s the true measure of success.
My personal philosophy is called S.H.I.F.T., which stands for Spirit, Happiness, Integrity, Family, and Treasure. It reflects my belief that financial planning should be about more than accumulating wealth. It should help people live with purpose, enjoy what they’ve worked hard to build, protect what matters most, and create a meaningful legacy for future generations.
If there’s one thing I’d like readers to know, it’s that financial planning is not just for the wealthy or for people nearing retirement. Everyone deserves a plan. Everyone deserves someone who will listen, educate, and help them make confident financial decisions. My mission is to make that process approachable, personal, and empowering for every client I serve.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success by the impact I have on the lives of my clients.
Success isn’t measured by account balances or market returns alone. It’s helping a client send their child to college without financial burden. It’s helping someone retire earlier than they thought possible. It’s giving people the confidence to make important life decisions because they know they have a solid financial foundation.
One client recently shared that after years of planning together, she was able to fully fund her daughter’s college education, relocate, travel, and look forward to retiring earlier than she ever imagined. During one of the most difficult periods of her life, after losing both of her parents, she was able to step away from work for nine months to heal and focus on her family because of the financial plan we had built together. Knowing our work provided that kind of peace of mind is what I consider success.
My personal philosophy is S.H.I.F.T.:
Spirit – staying grounded in purpose and gratitude
Happiness – aligning finances with what brings fulfillment
Integrity – leading with honesty and accountability
Family – prioritizing relationships and legacy
Treasure – protecting what matters most
For me, success is helping clients shift their focus from simply accumulating wealth to using their resources as a tool to live more meaningful, purposeful, and fulfilling lives.
Why Clients Choose Me
Many financial advisors manage investments. I strive to build relationships.
The greatest compliment I receive is when clients tell me they feel heard, understood, and confident. My goal is not just to help clients grow their wealth but to help them understand why they’re making financial decisions and how those decisions support the life they want to live.
Whether we’re planning for retirement, education, a career transition, caring for aging parents, or navigating life’s unexpected challenges, I want clients to know they have someone in their corner who genuinely cares about their success and well-being.
That trust is something I never take for granted.
