Check Out Cree Myles’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cree Myles.

Hi Cree, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My content journey was inspired by my love of reading. The first video I put up on the internet was about The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison. I loved the book so much I just wanted as many people to know about it as possible.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Roads are never smooth. I don’t know if I experienced struggles as much as I just experience the ebb and flow of building a business and a brand. Growing on social media is hard, it’s hard to find the thing that will grow your account and follower count is currency. Honing a creative process is also just a process. Also social media is created to be addictive to working on it while staying productive and of strong mind takes intention.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’ve gone viral for annotating hip hop verses. On my social media I talk about books – primarily literature – and hip hop. I’m proud of my Instagram page, creating a successful page and brand is a lot of work. Also I dropped some merch and it’s been doing so well! I’m proud of how Black I am. I’m proud of how much I love and understand Black culture. People are constantly DMing me tell me how what I’m doing for the culture is so important. That feels so good. I love Black people real bad.

What matters most to you?
It’s really important to me that I exist freely. That I tell the truth. It’s equally important to me that I raise free and happy children. I’ve got three.
