Check Out DeCarol Jovanovic’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to DeCarol Jovanovic.

DeCarol, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I became a parent for the first time in 2019. We stayed in a townhouse and sometimes noise and conversations would carry late into the night. After working so hard to get the baby to sleep, I thought it would be great if there was a way to let visitors know a young child was trying to sleep nearby. I made small signs for fun and realized I needed a company name. I became a sleep advocate. After brainstorming, Dream Ellison was born. For a while, the company focused on safe sleep. We appeared on local news and wrote a couple of blog posts detailing . I became a certified Newborn Care Specialist and begin interacting with child sleep consultants. There are so many qualified child sleep consultant across the world , We created a global child sleep consultant directory.

As our family aged, we began venturing out. We noticed that so many parents and guardians are trying to plan their day. Dream Ellison has spent years evolving and updating the website with the goal of becoming a top resource for families to turn to when planning their day. Community Outreach is an important part of our mission. Willie’s Abundant Harvest Transfer and Eartha’s United Learning Advocacy Program are free resources we offer to the community.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We’ve had several roadblocks and it forced us to evolve. Our initial platform was designed for products and wouldn’t allow for growth. Our search for a new tech team was time consuming but we were able to find a local company. After a year of waiting, the website came out underwhelming. The silver lining was that the website gave us a view of our potential and confirmed the need for a more skilled staff. We were able to meet the right technical team to implement our vision.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a former civil servant who spent nearly 13 years working in the Contracting career field and another 13 years working in Services Acquisition. I am a services acquisition professional. Dream Ellison is expanding product line to offer a Services Marketplace and this is what sets us apart from others. We’re also known for doing community outreach and being the book publisher for the best selling Tinkle Tinkle Little One book series. We are very proud of this book series. We are also proud to be one of the youngest civilian service employees to ever retire from the Department of the Navy.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
