Check Out Dulce’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dulce.

Hi Dulce, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey into aesthetics started with my love for skincare and helping people feel confident in their own skin. I originally wanted to become a dermatologist, but life took me in a different direction, and I decided to pursue esthetics instead. Looking back, I’m so glad I did because I truly found something I’m passionate about.

I’ve been in the aesthetics industry for about 10 years now, and throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to work in different roles, from being a master esthetician to managing and directing in medical spa settings. Those experiences taught me so much, not just about skincare and treatments, but also about the business side of the industry and what it takes to create a great client experience.

Eventually, I reached a point where I wanted to create something of my own. I wanted a space where I could take my time with each client, build genuine relationships, and focus on providing personalized treatments rather than making people feel like just another appointment. That’s what inspired me to open SkinHouse Aesthetics in Fairfax, Virginia.

Being a business owner has definitely come with its challenges, and I’m still learning and growing every day, but it’s been incredibly rewarding to build something that reflects who I am and what I believe in. I’m excited to see where this journey takes me.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been without its challenges. Some of the biggest struggles have been building awareness, growing my clientele, and finding a healthy work-life balance. There have been plenty of long nights and times when work follows me home. When you’re building something of your own, it’s easy to get caught up in everything that needs to get done. It’s taught me a lot about patience, consistency, and the importance of finding balance along the way.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
At SkinHouse Aesthetics, I specialize in personalized, results-driven skincare treatments, from customized facials and HydraFacials to acne treatments and more advanced skin services. My goal has always been to combine the results of medical aesthetics with the relaxing experience of a luxury spa.

I think what sets SkinHouse apart is the attention to detail and the personal connection I build with my clients. I take the time to understand their skin, their concerns, and what they’re hoping to achieve. I don’t believe skincare should be a one-size-fits-all approach.

What I’m most proud of is creating a space where people feel comfortable, listened to, and genuinely cared for. I love seeing improvements in my clients’ skin, but what means even more to me is the trust they place in me and the relationships I’ve built along the way.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My biggest advice would be to be patient with yourself and not compare your journey to someone else’s. Building a business takes time, and not everything is going to happen overnight. I would also say to surround yourself with people who support you and don’t be afraid to ask for help or advice. One thing I wish I had understood earlier is how important it is to make time for yourself. It’s easy to get caught up in work, but taking care of yourself is just as important as taking care of your business.
