Check Out Trenice Freeman’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trenice Freeman.

Hi Trenice, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I grew up with a strong desire to give my future family a better life. My early dream was football, then music. But something always felt missing. After giving my life to Christ, everything shifted. One night, after a painful argument with my wife, I prayed along with an unexpected video, and that moment, on my knees, became a turning point. My faith stopped being an idea and became a foundation. As I prayed about purpose, I felt pulled toward helping people build healthier relationships. I pursued coaching education, and my first client confirmed it. This was a calling. Covenant coaching comes from the belief that marriage is a covenant before God. It’s not a casual arrangement, it’s a commitment that requires patience, forgiveness, and emotional maturity. My hope is to help people move away from giving up at the first sign of distress and toward healthier, Christ-centered relationships. Stronger marriages shape stronger families. Stronger families shape stronger communities. My anchor through all of this is Matthew 6:33: seek first his kingdom. And I’d leave readers with that same invitation. Put God first, and the rest starts to take shape.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Some of my struggles were financial. I lost my job at one point and had to start over. Consistency was another one. I have had a busy schedule so it’s been hard. And sometimes I’ve felt like giving up. But I know that’s only the enemy playing with my mind

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m the founder of Covenant Coaching, where I help people build stronger relationships and marriages through better communication, emotional understanding, accountability, and faith-centered principles.

My approach is rooted in real-life experience. I don’t pretend to have a perfect marriage or all the answers. Instead, I share the lessons my wife and I have learned through communication struggles, conflict, and growth.

I’m passionate about helping people improve how they communicate, listen, understand their partner’s needs, and handle conflict in healthier ways. What sets me apart is my relatability and desire to have honest, practical conversations about the work relationships require.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
For me, Covenant Coaching is about more than talking about relationships. It’s about creating spaces where people can have honest conversations, grow together, and learn what it truly means to approach relationships as a covenant.

That’s why I’m excited to host Covenant Conversations on Saturday, November 7th at 6:00 PM in Hampton, Virginia. It’ll be an intimate, Q&A-driven conversation where we can talk openly about relationships, marriage, communication, and the challenges couples face every day.

The event is free, but space is limited to just 30 seats. If something in my story or in this article connected with you, I’d love for you to come be part of the conversation.
