Carla, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey with Dots All Natural Spices started with my mother and me. My mother lives with an autoimmune disease, and I was dealing with my own health challenges, so we began researching herbs, spices, and natural ingredients that could help support our overall wellness. Through that research, we started creating our own spice blends using all-natural ingredients with no salt and no MSG.
My mother shared the blends with her nurses, friends, and family, and the feedback was incredible. People loved the flavor and kept asking for more. That’s when I realized we had something special. I decided to launch Truss N Me LLC and create Dots All Natural Spices.
Today, we offer 19 unique spice blends and other all-natural products. What started as a personal wellness journey for our family has grown into a business dedicated to helping others enjoy flavorful food while making healthier lifestyle choices.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has definitely not been a smooth road, and many of the challenges are things I’m still working through today. One of the biggest obstacles is securing the funding and resources needed to grow the business. As demand increases, I’m focused on expanding production, sourcing ingredients, and finding the right opportunities to scale.
Another challenge is balancing entrepreneurship with my other professional responsibilities. My mother helps when she can, but much of the day-to-day operations, marketing, sales, and business development falls on me.
Finding reliable support and continuing to grow the business takes persistence, but each challenge teaches me something new. The journey isn’t always easy, but seeing the impact our products have on customers makes it worth it.

What sets us apart is that our products were created from personal experience and a genuine desire to support healthier lifestyles. We focus on delivering bold flavor while using quality ingredients that people can feel good about serving to their families. Our blends are versatile, easy to use, and designed for everyday cooking.
One thing I’m especially proud of is the relationships we’ve built within our community. Many of our customers first discover us at local farmers markets and events, where we have the opportunity to connect with them face-to-face, share our story, and educate them about healthier seasoning options.
I want readers to know that Dots All Natural Spices is more than a seasoning company. We’re a family-owned business built on wellness, education, and community. Our mission is to show people that healthier choices don’t have to mean sacrificing flavor.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I don’t consider myself a reckless risk-taker, but I do believe that growth requires stepping outside of your comfort zone. For me, risk is about having faith in your vision while doing the research and preparation needed to make informed decisions.
One of the biggest risks I’ve taken was starting Dots All Natural Spices in the first place. I was entering an industry I had never worked in before, investing my time, money, and energy into an idea that grew from a personal family experience. There were no guarantees that customers would embrace our products or that the business would succeed.
Another ongoing risk is continuing to invest in the growth of the company. Whether it’s introducing new products, participating in events, or pursuing opportunities to expand, every business decision comes with some level of uncertainty.
I’ve learned that risk and opportunity often go hand in hand. If I had allowed fear of failure to stop me, Dots All Natural Spices would not exist today. While I believe in being strategic and thoughtful, I also believe that sometimes you have to trust yourself, take the leap, and be willing to learn along the way.
